I got my 4-AcO from a well known vender recently and it is a white matted powder. I made 7 or so caps weighing ~25 mg each and stored them in a not so airtight container in the same spot in the same room next to the bag containing the majority of the product witch was kept in an even less airtight container. This was about a week ago. Any who, the powder in the caps have since turned a tanish brown and now looks similar to a batch of the same chem I had gotten from "the wall-mart" a few years back. Any ideas what could have caused this? do you think potency may have changed? Any thoughts on this at all? Thanks much. :2thumbsup: --DR--
It perhaps may have slightly degraded but I don't know if it's a drastic change in potency, the one time I had brownish 4-aco-dmt it was about on par with the potency with white 4-aco-dmt I've had of the same dose.
Thats what I'm thinking. A buddy of mine seems quite excited to test it out and let me know what he thinks in comparison to an equal weight of the the white powder. If he takes it Ill be sure to update this thread with whatever it is he thinks. I'm still curious to hear what others think about this tho.
Is it HCl or freebase? or fumurate? I have some light tan HCl. I keep it in a glass jar in the freezer but I kept a small dose in a gelcap to see how quickly it would degrade, which it did pretty quickly. It degrades faster as HCl or freebase. There may be a little potency loss but I'd preserve the rest of what you have by storing it airtight in the freezer.
Sounds like oxidization, I doubt your potency has been noticeably affected, but you shouldn't be in the habit of storing psychedelics loosely like this, do you not have access to basic ziplock bags?
Popularity: Its fumarate, which I know is more stable. I've only had freebase besides fumarate and that was one time and it was white. I've had tan fumarate in the past aswell I've just never seen it change color. Mr. Writer: good call with oxidization, that makes sense. As for how I store my stuff, I usually keep it in a small zip-lock then put that into a vac sealed bag which I keep in the freezer. or sometimes in vials if available. That's if I have a decent amount of product I'm not dipping into frequently. The past few times I've gotten 4-aco I have gotten a small amount (a gram or two) that I break down for a few friends locally that rnt into the scene very much if at all so its not around for very long. This time a friend just disappeared for the week and I forgot about the caps till he brought them up. _____________________________ I ask about this in the first place because iv never seen this before and it had me curious more than anything. i find it sort of humorous that you refer to a gram or two of 4aces as a small amount. i "only" got 500 mg and store mine in an airtight mason jar in the fridge.
^^^Ha well I mean Im not just walking around with a gram and a dip stick. I guess 2000 mg is a allot relative to what some go through but as I said, its broken up among a few of my friends so I only end up with so much. Its all relative I guess, I'm sure theirs people out there thinking of a gram of DOC as a smaller amounts. When I have more than I need it usually ends up in the freezer soon enough, this time some of it was just forgotten in a cap and turned a different color.
4-AcO-DMT degrades into 4-HO-DMT (Psilocin) over time, possibly along with other chemicals which may or may not be active. I wouldn't worry about potency though, in my experience 4-AcO-DMT that has degraded a little has actually increased in potency, though I personally prefer the less chaotic experience of pure 4-AcO-DMT. Once it starts going a dark brown or further it's possible the 4-HO-DMT could degrade into inactive products, so my advice is just to get it in a nice cool fridge now while you can. Heat seems to be the biggest factor with 4-AcO-DMT storage.
It's a bummer I keep hearing about people who have had their 4-aco turn brown or into a black goo... not cool. I have just over 3g of the fumerate, double ziplocked, stored in the freezer. I sure hope it doesn't happen to my stash... so far no problems.
