OPENING FESTIVAL-------- SPRING FAIRE ------ April 28th 2007 --- LIVE REGGAE

Now in its 3rd year, this ever-evolving weekend destination is designed for good old-fashioned family fun. This venue is an outlet for craftspeople, farmers, cooks, artists and performers to create a very colorful, attractive and diversified display easily accessible to foot traffic from the downtown area. This outdoor market is also aimed at promoting an eco-fair atmosphere by providing space for both local non-profit and for-profit businesses to meet and greet members of their community up close and personal, thus creating a unique expo-type forum to distribute information about alternative option products, services and activities.

As part of our on-going festivities The Kids Zone will be located in the grassy area near the playground – you can’t miss the traditional teepee, which is a big hit with the kids. This exciting part of our event includes activities scheduled throughout the day in a coordinated manner, as well as on-going activities like face painting and an open arts and crafts table. This is also a great opportunity for organizations who are offering children’s services to the community to set up an information table to highlight their activities and invite community participation (donations/volunteers).

We are inviting the community to co-create this weekly market – by the community, for the community! By providing a familiar and festive atmosphere for the whole community, we plan on becoming a Santa Cruz institution for many years to come. This community event will only be possible with your help! Note: Vendors should arrive around 9am, and be ready to serve the public by 10am. First come, first serve – fees, by donation, will be based on a generous sliding scale – make it your market and together we will make it successful!
