Comes out in a few days. It looks amazing. It's by Frank Miller. (Sin City) The cinematography looks amazing. It's about the Battle of Thermapole. Where a group of 300 Spartans defended the greek islands against a marching army of a million Persians. I'll post a review when it comes out in a few days.
it looks so fabulous, id efinitely wanna see it. ill probably even shell out big bucks for the fancy theater
for months and months and months i've been hearing about this... at first i knew about it because i watch alot of movie television and then on top of those months i've had months of my brother saying he can't wait to see it and calling it 3000 to which i corrected him over and over saying it was 300...so i'll be glad when it's out and i can stop hearing about it from my stupid little brother it does look incrediably well done, and should be very visually appealing i enjoyed sin city myself and for me cinematography is my favourite part of film and frank miller makes it very enjoyable to watch
This movie looks so wonderful visually that I seriously doubt I could hate it. We're seeing it Friday night at the IMAX.
Both are about the battle of Thermopylae, a historical event. To which the theme follows I can't say, but I'm sure in both 300 Spartans face an army of millions of Persians, being that was the battle of Thermopylae.
the movie looks quite promising. i'll be seeing it when i get home with some buddies of mine. its based on Millers Graphic novel, so its not all historically accurate (military tactics and such), but still, it looks like a badass movie --- this is a cool series of videos uploaded on youtube about the battle... http://youtube.com/watch?v=R6BDHGa4CEY 3 parts...history channel - The Battle Of Thermopylae
Well yes, Frank Miller even said seeing it was motivation for writing the graphic novel. The graphic novel however, was very different in terms of theme and plot element then the '62 movie. I'm just saying you can't really call a movie based on a historical event a remake. You wouldn't call the movie Titanic from '98 a remake of titanic from '43 would you? Oceans 11 is a remake.
Oh, and that video looks awesome fitzy. I'll check it out as soon as I'm finished downloading Count of Monte Cristo. The remake. (heh)
Saw it yesterday. I wrote a little review in another thread the other day. 00. There was about 5 minutes (literally) of dialouge the whole film. But every scene was crafted so well, the action so intense brutal, violent, the scenery was breathtaking. Brilliant cinematography. There was no theme so to speak. Just war. The movie was breathtaking. I heard someone once say *might have been Ebert* making a hit antiwar film was impossible because death is enshrouded in glory in all cultures.
I thought it was great for what it was; a war movie. It wasn't a very satisfying plotline or emotionally. The action was intense though! I'd pay to see it again, in fact I think I will...
Eh... I'm pretty skeptical of this film. 5 minutes of dialogue? Kubrick could get away with that, but I don't know about this...
that has actually made me want to see it i think the thing about this war is it can get away with only having 5 mins of dialogue in it...if done right...the intensity of the war itself i mean those men at the end..when they knew they were going to die..theres no words really that can solidify those kind of intense human emotions that would have been going through those men's minds...
