Okay, here are a few pics from my big jump a couple of weeks ago in Canada. Saying goodbye to this cruel world before I jump to my doom. Was feeling slightly ill, not to mention freezing my ass off, so it was hard to get the adrenaline going at that time. I opted to do it backwards. But the weather was crappy enough that the rails were too slick. So they decided to prolong the agony by hanging me over the edge for what seemed like an eternity. Oddly enough, I was perfectly comfortable with it. The dude kept asking if I was okay. I kept telling him I was good and that he could let go anytime. So he did. Once he said "Have a nice trip", I was more than ready to drop. I immediately try to get into a diving pose.
I immediately look to the water rushing towards my face. Wondering if I'm gonna touch it or get dunked. I get within a couple of feet of the water and spring back up. Upon my way back up, I end up turning right side up, so my next time downwards, there's a bit of a jerking sensation. but no whiplash or anything like that. I had gone into a bit of a spin, so grabbing the pole was harder than I had thought. I'm disoriented, but alive. It was a good jump. After laying there for a moment while the blood rushed back to the rest of my body, I proceeded to get back up to the top and nearly pass out. I got a lot of praise for my jump from the onlookers. apparently, it's supposed to be scarier to jump backwards than forwards. I didn't find it to be that way.
LOL I actually made sure to pee riight before going to the platform. Didn't want to take any chances.
Actually, that's on my list. I think I'd jump from a plane tandem the first time. Then go through the class and do a static line jump.
You are one brave guy! I've often wanted to bungee jump but someone would have to pry my fingers off the platform railing. lol
Wow, cool pics! That's something I wouldn't dare do, I'm okay with heights as long as I'm up there, but jumping off is something completely different!
Brave? I dunno about that. I did have to go backwards instead of forwards just to get the courage to go through with it. They said it was scarier to do it that way, but not for me. I was focussing on everyone at eye level. As a result, I was completely at ease as I was being lowered over the edge. I was ready to go. If done forwards, it would have taken me a bit longer to do, as I was feeling the butterflies everytime I looked down.
wow finaly see the pics!! they look wikkid.... you know my fear for bungee but i must admit this mas made me want to try *blush* but i bet its a LOT higher than it looks in those damn pictures
I've done 18 skydive's myself... 4 static line and 14 freefalls. I have done up to 30sec. of freefall. IT'S THE CRAZIEST FEELING EVER!!!! I can't wait to bungee though... Where in canada did you go?
I went to the Bungy Zone in Nanaimo, located on the east coast of Vancouver Island. About an hour or two north of Victoria. www.bungyzone.com
Nice man, someday I definitely want to bungee jump. It would have to be over water though like you did. I've had the opportunity to do it from a crane over a big cushion and it just didn't seem cool. Off a bridge over some water in a beautiful place like though would be very cool.
oh that's awesome! I've always wanted to do that. The part that scares me the most is the *blood rushing to your head* part....I hate that feeling.
do what I did. Make sure you take a good shit and piss before jumping. gives you a better chance of surviving the jump without embarrassment.
