What does everyone think of this film? I love it. Though it's not technically a zombie film, it could be loosely grouped with them, and as a zombie film, and one in the post apocalyptic genre, I think it breaks a lot of ground and is probably amongst the best. I love the moral ambiguity. I love that it's a film with zombie type creatures in it, but they don't actually appear that much. I like how the main enemy turns out to be the group of soliders they thought would protect them from the rage infected crazies and how to survive good men must become wicked people. The ending is brilliant, as the hero (Cillian Murphy, great actor) rips the eyes out of a solider attempting to rape his girlfriend. The attack is so brutal the the girlfriend goes to try to kill him because it appears as though he has become one of the infected. A great message. It doesn't take a disease to bring out the darkness in the hearts of all of us. Brilliant scenes of an eerily empty London too, Ken would be proud....

This is the best "horror" movie that I can think of, ever.

Course I have a bad memory, anyway.

Yeah, it's definitely up there with my favourites. Are you British or American Hannah? If American, how popular was it over there?

I'm American. It was fairly popular over here. Not the big-time, but it sorta has a cult following. It went to the movie theaters and there was a lot of buzz around it, but mostly the people who saw it were real movie fans. Not just people who go see the most popular movies. So I'm sure smaller theaters didn't show it, and it didn't stay in theater for a long time.

I love this film, Danny Boyle (Trainspotting) is a genius! I think he's one of the best British directors. This film was very low budget and shot almost entirely on a Mini DV digital camcorder:eek:

Great soundtrack! The opening scene of a deserted London set to Godspeed You Black Emperor, the supermarket scene set to Grandaddy. Perfect. It has such atmosphere.

A sequel is currently in production...

I wasn't happy with it when i saw it at the cinema, i hated the digital camerawork and thought most of the supporting actors were bloody awful, and i didn't like the way it TOTALLY ripped off Day of the Triffids. After watching it a few times on DVD i decided i was completely wrong and that it's a great film..! I now own it, although the girl in it still can't act for sh*t.

I really like the photography but I've only seen it on DVD. I would imagine on a big cinema screen you'd really notice that it was mostly shot at TV resolution which is pretty poor compared to the resolution of 35mm[IMG] Except the final scene oddly, which was shot on 35. Maybe they had proper funding by then or money left to use up:D

I really like the effect that whenever the infected are on the move they use a really high "shutter" speed to give it this jerky look ... really simple but effective, and not overused, which it could've been. An effect which was stolen and used in the 2004 remake of "Dawn of the Dead" which is also a great "zombie" film:)
