Hey Everybody! Those of us who have been hanging out here lately know that there are lots of Hippie Babies on the way this year, but I thought it would be fun to consolidate in one thread, so that should any more Hip Ladies find themselves having Hip Babies they'd have someplace to let everyone know, and we can all keep track of each other. It's also a chance for all us mommas who don't know eachother to get aquainted... We can all groan together over aches and heart burn. *haha* Here are my baby-making stats: I am 12 weeks pregnant(back aching already! yikes!). My due-date is September 17th, but I am thinking more like early October(My first baby was eleven days late, and my mom carried each of us *seven in all* no less than three weeks past term). I want to have an unassisted birth... I am in the market for a good midwife for my prenatal care. Know any in Southwest MO or the Knoxville TN area? *haha* I'll be living back and forth between the two places throughout my pregancy(makes it hard to find a healthcare provider, for sure). I am guessing that I'll have a girl, but my mom is guessing twins because all the aches and pains I'm getting already. It's going to be a surprise though... I am choosing not to find out beforehand this time. I look forward to seeing the rest of the prego Hipsters join in!
ok, me stats...... only 5 and a half weeks at this point, the only things I seem to be able to do are nap and pee, back is aching when I go to bed again, heartburn already, no morning sickness this time........(knock on wood)........yet........ I calculated out my due date myself to be November 1st...hopefully that's accurate...somewhere around there (hubby's b-day is on november 3rd, so we all thought that would be cool!). I'm curious if I'm going to go way over due again like I did with Lea Lea. This time I'm kinda hoping for a boy, since i have my little girl already. But either way is awesome. This time we'll be having the baby in a birthing center here in town with a midwife as opposed to having her at a hospital with my gumpy OB again. However, I friend of mine who had her baby there alomst a year ago said that I need to either watch my weight or my baby's...something like that......or else i can't deliver there. So I'm going to have to clarify that on the 14th when I have my first appointment. The way they have it set up there is kinda cool, where all the women come to their appointments together to talk and discuss what's up with them instead of having individual appointments. But that's about all I can think about right now. I'm sure I'll have more to say in a few days, lol
I'm due April 1st with a boy! It is our first and we are very excited and nervous at the same time! We are getting ready for little Isaac's arrival like busy little bees. Where has all the time gone? It seemed like I had much more 8 months ago... I've had nightly heartburn, muscle cramps, some preterm contractions (on maternity leave and taking it easy already), and have craved nothing but ice cream and sweets all through the pregnancy making it hard to stick to a well-balanced diet. I'm just ready for Isaac to be here and to be settled into my new life as a parent.
I got lucky too... Not a wink of morning sickness to speak of... Yet. That's a cool situation at your birthing center, all the momma coming together like that. About the weight thing... I remember reading in my mondo big medical baby book that if a mother is really overweight, her baby has a higher chance of being born diabetic or something like that, and it makes the whole situation more high risk. But I don't believe that they should exclude any mother who has spent their entire pregnancy with them over a few extra pounds. Every mom is different... Their standardizations really stink. I'm sure you'll do great... I read your other post and you have good ideas! Wow Sera! You must feel about ready to burst! You poor thing... I can remember the third trimester heartburn. Ouchy! I ate Tums like candy. I feel you on the ice cream too, that was a biggy for me my first pregnancy, along with cake. Cake is coming back to haunt me this time too. *haha* I'm just going to indulge responsibly, and counteract it with lots of healthy stuff and exercise. I'm growing a market garden this year, so will be working my tail off and surrounded by veggies! Isaac... That's an awesome name.
i'm due Sept 12th, and so far i really wouldn't know i'm pregnant other than the missed period. i haven't had any morning sickness, just stomach aches from gas, which is weird because i never had that problem before. right now my dr is telling me i'm losing weight, and i don't know how because my stomach is already gettin flabbier. best wishes to the mommas and the new bundles on the way.
Congrats to Everyone! I too am expecting! We are going to have #3 in Mid-July! I am so excited now that I can feel it moving around and making mama know that he/she is just fine! I am 20 weeks now...YAY half way there! And on Tuesday I go for an ultrasound to see what we are having! As many know I have 3.5yo twin girls! And we are only expecting 1 this time around! Also this pregnancy has been completely different for me. I was not sick for one day with the girls. And with this one I was sick (very fussy & Picky) for 2 1/2 months....yuck. Plus I had a really bad flu in the middle of all of that. I am glad to say that is over with, and I am feeling 100% better! My appetite is back, not sure if that is good or dangerous! I have probably gained close to 10# now which is really good. I hope I don't gain too much more than 25-30 in all. I am a really healthy eater so I think I will be okay! But I am so curious to know what we are going to have! Either way we will be so happy! Right now I am in a sea of babies, everyone I know is expecting. My best friend's sister is due this month(boy), my cousin is due in April(boy), My SIL is expecting twins (girls) in April, I am due in July, my other SIL is due around the same time as myself, and my best friend just found out she is expecting in October....7 babies....Holy cow!!! So I hope all us mamas can carry full term, healthy, and beautiful babies!! And I will proudly announce when I know with some pics!!
Congrats to everyone! Ivory - Isaac is my brother's name! It's one of those awesome classics - never seems too common, and yet never goes out of style!
Yay! More babies! I think I lost some weight those first few weeks too, MudFlower... But I attribute that entirely to me staying with my vegan boyfriend. *haha* I think my time spent with him is gonna help keep me from getting too fluffy. Awww, Critter! Your twins are SOOO cute! And your having a Cancer baby... I am a Cancer. My birthday is July 22nd. Be prepared for the most sensitive momma's boy/girl ever. HumbleBee... I love those old-school names! They aren't common, I think because they have a sense of antiquity when everybody is going for new-age and unique... Thus making those good old antique names even less common and more unique than the new-fangled names. Hooray for Sera Michele for picking such a goody. I'm struggling with sharing name giving rights this time... I got to pick Leo's name by myself. *haha* We're butting heads on names, but I am sure we'll come up with something eventually.
You have plenty of time to pick a name! My husband and I were sure we wouldn't come up with anything and he was just gonna have to be "baby" on his birth certificate...lol! We'd have name conversations daily, go through the baby name book and look online, but nothing seemed to fit. Friends and coworkers were bugging us endlessly about a name choice (to the point of major annoyance), but finally we found something that just seemed right to us and we were able to call him it with ease. In the matter of a few days he was little Isaac instead of "the baby" and it seemed like that's who he always was.
lol, we had major problems with Leane's name, too! From the very beginning of the pregnancy with her, we started talking about names. We hardly agreed on anything. And stupidly, if we did, I would tell someone in the family, and they would tell me that they didn't like it, and then I would start to not like it. grrrr. On top of that, I was sure that I was having a boy, so that was what I spent all my time on thinking about. When she came out, we both were in complete shock that she was a girl. By the end of the pregnancy with her, we had thought "Austyn" for a girl and "Austin" for a boy. but the middle name for the girl would be "Leane Margrethe..." well, when she came out, she looked nothing like an Austyn, so we just dropped it and named her Leane instead. lol When I got her home, though, I wanted to keep calling her "Mykalie" (like mc-kay-lee), and I really think that we should have gone with that now. lol, that's what I get for yelling out what her name would be the minute I saw her, lol. This time, we're going to think a little more about different names we like, bring the list to the birthing center with us, and then pick which name suits the baby the best a while later, lol
had my first on feb. 25. he came a bit early, but hes cute, tiny, quiet, and healthy...just perfect. i guess i'm being a mom now!!!! congrats to everyone who had a baby this year...and those of you who are expecting i wish you the best
ok, so this thread is for moaning about pregnancy woes, too.......I have a big woe......this damn morning sickness!!!!!!!grrrrrrrrrrr!!!! And that stupid diclectin that's supposed to help me made it worse....this really sucks! lol....just needed to vent!
The nausea meds I were prescribed made things worse for me too. I just ditched them and suffered through the morning (really, ALL DAY) sickness without. I remember times where I would just break down and cry to my husband becuase I felt like I was doomed to suffer my entire pregnancy throwing up multiple times a day. It started to get better for me during the fourth month, and just about tapered off completely during the fifth. Still, there are occasions where food doesn't want to stay down, but nothing like that first trimester.
Congrats MidnightSun! First time mommy... Wow! It's the best isn't it? Put aside the sore nipples, or spilled formula, the sleepless nights, forgetting to shower, and all that jazz and nothing beats having that first baby. I'm excited to be having another one! I'm sorry about the morning sickness ladies... I can vaguely remember it sucking from my first pregnancy... I still haven't had a wiff of it. Sometimes I'll feel a little sick if I wait too long between meals, but other than that I'm okay... Eating everything I can get my hands on. *haha* Have you tried any natural remedies? I've never had to for morning sickness, but I'm a believer in the earth's medicine. Hope it gets better for you, Kirstyn. Sera's right... It usually goes away for the most part by the fourth month. I'll put in a groan while I am here too... Damn the loosening of the joints! I know I'll be glad that my stuff is coming unhinged when it comes time to give birth, but right now I feel like a creaky, stiff, arthritic old woman. I need to be doing that yoga(Kirstyn knows what I'm talking about) but I'm almost scared to as loose and sore as all my joints have been! *sigh* Ahhh... Hormones.
lol, gotta love this pregnancy stuff....and yet we all talk abotu how much we love being pregnant, lol when I was pregnant with Leane I had REALLY bad nausea...like I mean, I would move and I would puke. I basically ate nothing for the first 3 months....still managed to gain abotu 25 pounds somehow....but none the less, it sucked. Then like the day I hit my second trimester, it disapeared completely. This time I'm glad to say it's not NEARLY as bad. There's just little things getting to me, like going to long between meals, certian smells, certain foods...but at least I can still move, lol...I just hope that since it's a tiny better this time, that it's not going to last the whoel pregnancy!
