The last 15-20 minutes left me feeling very emotional with a new appreciation for life. The cinematography was BRILLIANT... And not only is James Franco beautiful, but he's incredible on the screen as well. Top notch film well deserved of it's noms and wins this award season.
The beginning sequence made me a little worried because it reminded me of Slumdog Millionaire and that movie blew chunks. but this was AMAZING. The way the cinematography and music was used to reflect his moods and state of mind was perfectly executed, and the part where he finally gets free was mind blowing. Deserved best movie. By far.
I really want to see it. Its rare that when a new movie comes out literally everyone is saying good things.
this movie was shown at only the art house theater here in san antonio, texas. sa is quite a "white bread" type of city. i love this movie! :2thumbsup: i got a good laugh from the movie also. 4 old white haired ladies, who looked to be in their 70's and/or 80's, were seated several rows ahead of me. one of them fainted, and the 3 others went batshit crazy! :willy_nilly: talk about a generation gap! i grew up with leatherface and jason voorhees... those poor women grew up with sherily temple. i guess they just had not seen any new movies since the 1930's or 1940's. THE TIMES SURE HAVE CHANGED IN MOVIES!
This movie was excellent! I cried when he saw that he was going to have a son. So glad he made it out alive!
I was skeptical when I heard about it. I heard the story when it happened, and didn't know how they could make a movie about one person trapped in one spot watchable. But they nailed it! Franco is a great actor, and I was impressed by the movie all together. Such a touching story. I loved how they showed the actual person in the credits, wearing a prosthetic arm with climbing attachments. I heard that he now tells someone where hes going at all times.....even if it's just to the grocery store.
It's up there beside Into The Wild for me, great film. After watching it i checked out the real footage on youtube, i need to remember to buy the book.
