I'd say very normal. The hair at the ends of your dreads isn't attached to your head anymore obviously, so it's not falling out.

Yeah a headband is always a good way to go. get one in a 'dignified' colour like dark grey and they'll barely notice the dreads...hopefully
Oh and it doesn't really show in the picture but one koi is lighter and one is darker and that is to symbolize unity and diversity as a mixed race...
