Amish schoolhouse shooting

i can't belive this it's only about half an hour from my house. I work in the hospital they sent the bodies too. I work in the cafeteria and it was slow today because everyone is tending to the bodies , so sad!!!!

BART, Pa. -- To neighbors and relatives Charles Carl Roberts IV, 32, of Bart, Pa. was a far different person than what they're hearing today.


Police said Roberts walked into the one-room, Amish schoolhouse at 4876 White Oak Road in Bart this morning armed with a handgun and shotgun, lined some students up, bound them and then shot them after police arrived.



"Just unbelievable -- of all the people. You would never think this would happen to someone you know," said relative Jim Brubaker.

Neighbors can't believe it either. Roberts walked his children to the bus stop this morning, something he often did. One neighbor said he seemed like a nice family man.



"They just had a baby not long ago … They were very sweet kids. He seemed like a very good dad," said Morgan Erb, who had babysat the Roberts children.



Police have not been able to come up with a specific motive, but they said a suicide note left by Roberts made it seem that he wanted revenge for something that happened 20 years ago. They said Roberts associated young females with the incident.



Roberts was a father of three children, two sons and a daughter. The oldest is thought to be in second-grade. The family is now staying with relatives and receiving counselors from members of their church. Roberts reportedly left notes for each of his children.



Roberts was also a truck driver. He drove a milk tanker truck and made deliveries in the Bart area.

I heard about this! Really sad...He let the boys & staff go but kept the little girls & killed like 4 or something...

This is crazy how many there have been in such a short amount of time!

A kid brought a gun to my highschool my freshman year, but he was disarmed before anybody got hurt.

I'm just glad I'm out of high school now!

eerily enough i sat beside this guy in creative writing, during this time

apparently he was gonna try to shoot everyone that ever made fun of him

eerily even moreso, my best friend at the time sat ahead of me, and SORT of, KIND of made fun of him, but in a harmless (but still kinda immature) sort of way. i mean, the kid himself even laughed a few times, but still, that's scary

I am just so disturbed by this, the killer said he was getting revenge for something that happened to him when he was twelve. The amish are a very peaceful community, my parents rent from an amish family, and there house is surronded by the amish, this awful, just leave them be. They leave everyone else alone, they want nothing from us.

 

i cried about this today. it was very sad/pointless. i live very close to Bart and i know a few Amish people.
why?... a grudge from 20 YEARS AGO??? so he bound and wounded/executed Innocent young women? He gained nothing, and families lost a hell of alot! pointless!

lots of other sad pointless deaths going on everyday, Darfur, Afghanistan, Iraq, gang shootings/stabbings.

i just don't understand how all this could happen.... there is absolutely no point.

Very horrible thing that happened... I saw it early this morning during a breaking news report on ABC. Man must've had some very, very complex issues. Its quite sick.

Lot of kids dying in Iraq, though, that should get a lot more attention than it does.

 

Very sad indeed, and too think too the Amish dont really bother a soul. I dont know it just doesn't make any sence at all too me.

 

The man was obviously very troubled... suicidal and homicidal, with specific targets for his homicide. It probably won't make any sense to anyone but him, and people who study minds like his.

 

Apparently it wasnt a grudge he had 20 yrs ago it was he molested underage girls 20 yrs ago and he wanted to do it again...... fucking weirdo!!!....................... I dont know how u could be turned on by a girl yelling no no no its sick!!!

 

what do you mean? he was 12 twenty years ago. he was underage/almost pre-pubesent also.

That's not too far from where I live either. It's really sad what's happening in this world, in our schools. Makes me really wonder if I made the right decision sending my oldest to PS and not homeschooling like I had seriously been considering. *sighs*

So disheartening, something is seriously wrong in our society. *shakes head*

i had heard that he raped like 4 girls and then killed them and then let the rest go. but i heard all this at work, not actually on the news, so my info coulda gotten a little twisted.

its still really fucked up. we have enough troubled teens who get bullied shooting up their schools, now the fucking adults have to join in as well??? what the hell is the world coming to
