Russian Ska

Hey y'all, so this is without a doubt one of my favorite genres. Turns out Russian music already had a rythmic tradition that sounded a lot like ska before the first official Russian ska artists began during the late days of the soviet union. So it sounds really natural, and with the gravelly russian singing, emphasis on the accordion, and dramatic eastern European melodies, it's really cool. Please give it a listen.

i have just come across a treasure full of dust. the group is called ALTHEA AND DONNA . Reggae Group Girls from the 70´s. Any one ever heard of them? It is unbelievable how many songs from them were used by todays musicians p.diddy, jayz, sean paul etc etc . Just listen to their songs I bet they will sound famiiliar to you.

Has anyone had a listen? I think the music is awesome look up ska box set from tojan records or skinhead head reggae box set, there is three CDs to each box set. Will give you a taste of real reggae before it turned into black nationalism. And when i say skinhead reggae it's not racist at all. Before I leave this post I'm just wondering if there are any trad skins here highly unlikely but it's worth asking happy listening.

i don't listen to reggae, never have, so i don't know anything about the genre. but i have a friend who loves it, and i got him a collection of reggae music. it includes multiple CDs and claims to be 'the best of reggae music'.

the artists on the compilation include such names as Bob Marley (Soul Rebel, Touch Me, Don't Rock the Boat), Delroy Williams, Manifest, Don Carlos, The Heptunes, Dennis Brown, Mystic, etc).

my problem is, a lot of the songs are extremely low quality. at least i'm...
