Obama says he's for decriminalization of marijuana. Here he explains his experience with it. Also what some other candidates and a former president said about marijuana.
I think it is good that he can be honest about this. That in itself is a huge step forward socially and culturally. Politically, however, I doubt it will make much difference. Even if Obama is privately for decriminalisation, as I excpect privately he is to the left on many contentious issues, I doubt he will be willing or able to press the issue as far as new legislation. Can we see cannabis legalised? No we probably can't unfortunately....
here in california its so easy to get a cannabis card that it might as well be legal. and most of the cops dont give a shit if all you got is a little weed, as long as your honest with them. they'll usually have fun with you by humiliating you and making you dump your own stash and stomp it out yourself while they laugh. some cops are pretty cool though, i've had one give me my stuff back without even a ticket. we got a lot of worse stuff going on out here most of the time so they dont like to mess with unnecessary paper work.
