How old were you when you became a nudist?

I wonder how old you were when you decided nudism should be a part of you lifestyle.
As for me, I started socializing with nudists about ten years ago (at the age of 22 or so) but my first visit to naturism beach was much earlier... I must have been 6 or 7 years old and we went to the seaside with my parents. We came across a nudist beach by accident and just... stayed there

I don't think your childhood experience really counts, it's normal to see young kids running around naked on the beach.

 

I knowingly started embracing being nude at home when I was 13. i didn't know anything about nudism or other nudists and thought I might be weird. But my mother was very cool and tolerant of nudism so I enjoyed it. Have done so ever since.

I was in my early twenties.

 

About 14 or 15 for me. I had some kidney infections in the mid-1970s which frequently had me running a nasty fever. In hospital for treatment, they stripped me naked on the bed and had fans on full blast around my isolation room. There were no blinds on the windows so people visiting as well as nurses, doctors and cleaning staff and the like saw the naked little tike all the time during the day. For a young kid, I felt powerless (initially embarrassed), but resigned myself to be nude because I got used to the freedom of not having sheets or clothes on me. The air from the fans moving over me felt fantastic — sensual even, though their purpose was to reduce my fever! On subsequent admissions in hospital, I wore nothing, confident even through puberty. The ward was also shared by schizoid and anorexic patients, and still others with known and suspected mental disorders, I don't think it would have mattered much... After this at home I was naked all the time, stripping off my school uniform and playing with friends until dinner, or well into the night in summer. Four decades later I'm still at it!

Hmm...it sounds like this therapy would benefit everyone when growing up, regardless of fever! (at least those kids not already living the nude life.

Absolutely. It's funny how time can dull memories (but not all). I still have connections with the hospital more than 30 years after leaving it. Having lunch with one of the specialists before last Christmas (he and I are part of a cycling group), he told me kids are very self-conscious in the presence of others and do not go clothes-free — especially teenagers (the hospital treats teens to 18 or 19 now). If a kid has pyrexia there are many specialised "humanised" interventions now — noting that my treatment was described as "primitive" and "extreme" for its time. Maybe, but it cemented forever body acceptance in the buff.

I was 15 and it was one of the best things I ever did!

 

Birth. My folks never minded me running around nude in the backyard or in the house.

 

I was 12 when I first secretly went naked outside under the stars, in the backyard, quite often. I was in my late 20s when I bought a guide to nude beaches and started going to them. I haven't been to any in recent years because I'm living in a place that doesn't have nudist areas.

 

It was an evolution...
In summer camp, I was just one of many boys running around naked until they insisted we get dressed for breakfast.
In scouts, skinny dipping in the river with everyone else.
I asked Dad if it was okay and he laughed and said he and his brother never wore swimsuits when they swam in the river. Like father like son.
In my 20's, I was swimming with girlfriends in secluded places. That was fun!
Then one of these ladies suggested nude beaches, another suggested nude living at home and I finally gave both a try.
I am not saying you can't come to it suddenly, I just was just one who gradually eased into it. Now I wear clothes as needed; set them aside when not needed.

 

I only go nude at home and don't live in a place where it's accepted by the locals. But for as long as I can remember I've been more comfortable completely naked. When there is no one around I go naked, but that's been a while since my stepson and his girlfriend moved in with us. I've never gone nude in front of people I don't know, at least not in a situation like a nude beach or the like. But I do often have naked dreams, and in those dreams everyone else is absolutely shocked by my nakedness, and my attitude is always, "Oh. I'm naked." The dreams are always very vivid. One of my sisters who took a class on dreams and 'dream reading' told me that it actually means that I am a very open, honest person who doesn't care what others think of me. She may be right.

When my oldest son was about 9yo, he told me that he thought I looked best naked instead of dressed. I thought that was a nice compliment.

 

I was in college when a bunch of friends and I went to Jamaica for spring break. Started with topless and then quickly went to nothing at all. I LOVED it and go without clothes whenever I can.

 

I was a childhood nudist and whenever my parents would leave, so would my clothes. However, I didn't fully embrace it until 25 when I started visiting nudist resorts.
