Sewing Tips

Have any tips to share that make it all run more smoothly?

I'll start with two of mine:

- quickly and easily remove the tiny bits of thread left behind by the seam-ripper with tape wrapped around your fingers, same as you'd do to remove lint.

- keep a plastic container with an X cut in the lid by your machine. This is handy for disposing of tiny bits of trimmed fabirc and thread.

When threading your needle, never use more than 12 inches of thread. This keeps it from getting tangled. Knots can really mess up a good stitch.

When sewing buttons back onto a garment, use a hairpin between the button and the cloth. This gives you just enough extra space to go between the cloth and doesn't let your thread stretch to the breaking point.
Happy Sewing!
