Legendary 1960s protest singer Joan Baez will headline an Occupy Wall Street rally Friday.
"It’s official. Joan Baez will be here tomorrow," said organizer Aaron Black. "She’s an icon. We are unbelievably excited. In the ‘60s, protests and music went hand and hand.”
The “11/11/11” Veterans Day Rally will be held at at Foley Square from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

More on the Oct. 14th Incident Of NYPD puching protester in the head
From: http://gothamist.com/2011/10/14/hiv_...ys_cop_who.php
Rivera-Pitre, who is HIV positive and used to be a dancer, tells us he was walking a little bit in front of the police on William Street, and admits he "shot the cop a look." But then, according to Rivera-Pitre (and this is in line with what we witnessed), "The cop just lunged at me full throttle and hit me on the left side of my face. It tore my earring out. I remember seeing my earring on the ground next to me and it was full of blood. I was completely dumbstruck. I'm HIV positive and that cop should get tested."
The 2 videos below show the incident.

Tappan, N.Y. :
Graham Nash and David Crosby (“It’s Woodstock-otti,” Nov. 9) — one lives on an estate in Hawaii and goes barefoot all day, and the other is a former addict. Both are wealthy beyond their dreams as a result of the system they are now protesting. Those guys are no longer relevant when it comes to complaining about some other guy’s money or the system in which they made theirs.

Attempts to discredit the Occupy Movement and its supporters are nothing new. This is an old and worn tactic by the opposition.

I wonder about this...taking this view puts out to pasture all the 'old hippies' and others from the 60's era who are now 'successful' based on the system they protest[ed] I think we should keep in mind that when the tide rolled back from the 60s into the 70s, the general strength of lot of movements waned and thus many people were kinda left with 'dick in hand' so to speak. To see older people like this coming back out makes younger folks like me feel like we're finally onto something.

Thursday
November 17th
National Day of Action
Quote:
On Thursday November 17th, the two month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, we call upon the 99% to participate in a national day of direct action and celebration!
New York City Schedule
BREAKFAST: Shut Down Wall Street - 7:00 a.m.
Enough of this economy that exploits and divides us. It's time we put an end to Wall Street's reign of terror and begin building an economy that works for all. We will gather in Liberty Square at 7:00 a.m., before the ring of the Trading Floor Bell, to prepare to confront Wall Street with the stories of people on the frontlines of economic injustice. There, before the Stock Exchange, we will exchange stories rather than stocks.
LUNCH: Occupy The Subways - 3:00 p.m.
We will start by Occupying Our Blocks! Then throughout the five boroughs, we will gather at 16 central subway hubs and take our own stories to the trains, using the "People's Mic".
Bronx
Fordham Rd
3rd Ave, 138th Street
163rd and Southern Blvd
161st and River - Yankee Stadium
Brooklyn

23rd St and 8th Ave
Staten Island

DINNER: Take The Square - 5:00 p.m.
At 5 pm, tens of thousands of people will gather at Foley Square (just across from City Hall) in solidarity with laborers demanding jobs to rebuild this country's infrastructure and economy. A gospel choir and a marching band will also be performing.
Afterwards we will march to our bridges. Let's make it as musical a march as possible - bring your songs, your voice, your spirit! Our "Musical" on the bridge will culminate in a festival of light as we mark the two-month anniversary of the #occupy movement, and our commitment to shining light into our broken economic and political system.
Resist austerity. Rebuild the economy. Reclaim our democracy.
