Do you think in the future we will have the technology to travel in time?

Travel backwards in time is logically impossible. Simply because it's impossible to be present in another time in the past without affecting your own future (however hard you try).

Assuming time is linear, or even exists

If something akin to the multiverse theory is true, and that every possible outcome does happen. Then there is a universe somewhere where Ronald McDonald died slipping over a spilt coke at your 9th birthday party.

In 20 years you might be able to get in a time machine and try prevent that from happening, but theres another universe where that has already happened too

I'm going to go with either:

Einstein - its all relative to the observer anyway

or

Pauli: Trying to observe an event changes the event itself

All of us travel in time.
Think about it.
What year is it?
Is this the same year you were born?
For most of us NO.
How did we get to now from then?

The question may need to be rephrased, "How do we travel faster or slower through time than folks around us?"

We look at generally-held scientific beliefs of the past, and are amused at how quaint they are. In the future people will do the same thing about the early 21st century.

I read somewhere that the the mass of knowledge is now doubling every 5 years. We are constantly finding more aspects of time and our universe in general that we don't understand, or which operate differently than our current scientific theories say they should. Barring some world-destroying cataclysmic event, our rate of acquiring knowledge will continue to expand and increase. With our current levels of knowledge we estimate that the Earth will be livable for humans for billions more years.

Yes, I believe time travel to the past will happen.

You can't travel through time because time does not exist!
