What is up with Bob recently.....?

C'mon now. Any one who went to see Furthur this year knows what I'm talking about. Where is the guy? He never offers anything steady to the rhythm. It sounds a lot like just diddledaddling, especially with a terrible tone. That's another thing on some of the recording the rhythm guitar tone is cheesy, thin. I know Bob has always been creative with the rhythm part putting in some classic fills wherever he feels....I'm sure he's still trying to do this but it isn't turning out that great, I think mostly because of a bad tone that sometimes fades into the mix too much.

Has anyone thought the same thing?

With all due respect of course...

Bob Weir is not that great a guitar player. He is a SINGER .. Bob Weir is noted for his VOCALS not his playing guitar.. I never sat in the front row to see Bob Weir play guitar..

I sat in the front row in hope that Bob would scream his head off, and slobber all over us..... yes!! Bob Weir spits about a gallon of saliva, songs like Estimated Prophet in the past 2 gallons of saliva..

YEAH BOB!! ..

No kidding Bob is a great singer. And he never was a superb guitarist, but what was going on with his rhythm and tone this tour was particularly bad IMO

And Jaren, I really enjoyed Further this summer as well. A lot. I'm just saying. But Bob did take away from the songs sometimes with sloppy guitar. Singing or not, He has an important role as rhythm

When playing live music day after day.. The musician goes though whats you might know as deafness, and while you the audience member have listened to the music. your ears have not been damaged night after night performing it..

Even with the best ear protection out there, its impossible to halt damaging sound from harming the ears. The musician usually recovers a day or so, but symptoms can last week and year.. Its possible Bob is suffering from this..

And as we all know Bob is near Dead oops' getting old, his job is very tiresome and hes not the youngest guy in the band anymore..

i think orison is onto something, its possible he just can't hear his guitar as well as he used to. His hearing is probably shot to shit after so many years of playing music night after night.

Am I sensing attitude Orison. No need to be so defensive of Bob, I'm just saying. It's not really even a complaint I love to listen to the two Further shows I went to this summer. They were great shows, and it's absolutely fantastic Bob's voice is still there for them.

I thought my reply was rather professional to the artist in question..

For instance u went to see SOinSO back2back and the second night didnt sound so good.. Reason: Sound damage from previous show.. Now some people may not except this answer from the SOinSO publicist.. most of the time its the truth.

Bob has the potential to be one of the BEST rhythm guitarists out there. He's not living up to it. I saw the Wier/Wasserman/ Lane " Scaring the Children" show @ the Wanee, and was wholly disappointed, as this was on my " must see" festie list. Just seems like he's on autopilot. This does NOT compute.

I wish some of you played guitar; day after day after day.. not just picking it up for 10minutes.. Literally playing it with high volumes that have your ears ringing for hours after...... Do this day after day.

And I can guarantee when someone comes up to you and says "hi" youre going to say "huh, what did you say huh??"..

The majority of people complaining about the sound of other musicians are not musicians themselves...

Id really have to hate being a musician full time.. I wouldnt be able to read all the stupid comments about myself people places up on the interweb. Id be to busy :earning a living, resting, earning a living, resting.. and if I did read your comments. I wouldnt give a shit anyways..... Id be to busy earning a living and resting...
