In some internet circles the phenomenon has been dubbed "the frankenstein complex”.

The idea of resurrecting the dead is appealing to some and overwhelming irresistible to others.

Ok, its BS but someone has to make this shit up

This was good for a laugh... lol

Someone just necro'd a thread the other day, I read it all, thought it was a great thread, went to post and noticed that before the new post, it was dead for three years and the people I was going to respond to have stopped coming here...

The fonts listing them should glow ghostly green if its been ressurected... lol

I can think of three reasons.

One: It's a noob digging deep to find something interesting to them. Then they don't look at the date, or don't even know why they should bother to anyway.

Two: I've seen a few forums here that state (in the posting rules) that you should look back 3, or even 5 pages for a relevant thread, rather than starting a new one about your subject.

Three: One of the original posters comes back years later and digs it up to add something.

I was checking out what's new on the Hip Forums Home page last week and i saw a thread started by Skip that was about ufo's. I clicked on it and saw that it was two years old. I figured that some noob had necroposted again, but i was interested so i started from the beginning.

I was puzzled as i read the old posts about where all these members have been. I've noticed before, in old threads, that alot of them are just not around anymore. Anyway, i got to the third or fourth page and saw that an "online" light was on one of those old posts from two years ago. That freaked me out.

When i got to the last page, there she was. Even though the thread had been asleep for two years, she posted in it again.

It's funny how a few weeks ago somebody necroposted in a thread and a few people were complaining about it. But it stayed alive and well for another week anyway. lol

I don't really care if people reopen relevant threads. If some is interesting, so be it. A new post can create new interest in something all over again. Personal case stories and the likes are a no no, but interesting topics i'm all for it.

I see no reason to not be allowed to see something i wouldn't have got to see tree years ago- I wasn't here. Sometimes these topics are realised by others, and unless it is dug up it may be forgotten.

I'm more pissed about the endless 'ladies, what do you think of my cock' threads. There are loads of those, and these 'one post' users constantly break that rule. I know it's not their fault, because these people and many new users are familiar with forum etiquette yet.

Though, there was an introduce yourself thread that lasted like a week recently. That was pretty funny, the guy must have felt hugely popular and I don't blame him

I had like 2 people, rock on

i don't get why that would piss people off at all. though giving them a hard time about it is always fun. an interesting thread during a slow time on the forums seems perfectly acceptable to me.

though i'm too lazy to do it myself. i don't like reading that far back in my history unless i said something really funny.

I think a demonstrable resurrection technology can be instructive. What this demonstrates is that the minds that conceived and participated in these dusty threads are still very much awake in the minds of the current observer. The mind is an interpersonal point.

It a total out-of-body experience (OBE) when I read something I posted four years ago
