sometimes wen i play my guitar, especially wen im trying to fugure out a difficult riff, i slip down into a state where my mind is gone yet im focusing intently on my guitar but i woudnt quite call it meditation. Is it possible for me to meditate by playing guitar?

Hmmm i've had a similar kind of phenonema but i don't know if i would call it meditation, more of a in the zone type thing. The peak of meditation for me is lack of thought and movement and to just be. Playing the guitar defies that rule since you are using physical and mental cordination to play the insturment.

You are undertaking a form of mind exercise known as one-pointedness. The ability to focus the mind on one job and ignore the many distractions around you. This is a form of meditation albeit a unique one.

This is a little like the concept of mindfullness meditation as compared to the empty mind concept.
