I'm looking to find some sort of eco village or hippy commune around portland to live in. I'm just looking to meet some like-minded people and experience new things and live off the grid for awhile. Does anyone know of any in Oregon?

May I suggest going off the grid via a RV? I live in a 24' RV and love it! I love to boondocks out in the woods and love to start a nomadic group of RVers who love and respect Mother Earth. My goal is to upgrade to a 30'+ Class A RV with a diesel to switch to bio-fuel. RVs are pretty state of the art these days and leave a lighter footprint upon Mother than a Eco-village. Owning land to start a Eco-village kinda defeats the reason for the village to start with. This whole concept of owning Mother is kinda silly. In an RV you don't own the land so no guilt there, and your house is on wheels so you can go where your spirit leads you. I prefer to get my food straight from the land via fishing, hunting and wildcrafting. Growing food in soil it is not native to is what started alot of the damage to begin with, clearing land for your houses, farms, gardens and Eco-villages. Why not leave the land as it is and live off what the land has to offer without raping her?
