At a time when every single decision we take should be environmentally risponsible, a few things seems more useless than motorsports. I used to love watching F1 racing. The speeds are impressing and the skills of the drivers are breathtaking but nowadays these arguments are becoming less and less sufficient to convince me to continue watching this sport on TV.
Any opinions about motorsports? Do you share my point of view or do you think the entertainment and technical/mechanical advancements it creates are worth the price we collectively pay? (I could say a lot more but my limited English does not allow me to express myself as well as I wish I could, sorry) |

I've never been huge into motorsports. I use to enjoy watching F1 sometimes. For me now, I just prefer things such as the Tour de France and there's one in Montreal, however I just don't recall the name.
I've always thought about the crap that the races produce. For me, I find them pointless now. However they are still pretty popular.

I live near a speedway: drag racing and some going in circles.
I'll say up front I have no idea why this is appealing. I think of the fuel burned, even the ethanols, the waste from tire use, the noise pollution that really seems to bother the wildlife. And it is sad. this speedway can be heard while at a concert at Red Rocks. the reverse is not true. |

The Noise, the Pollution, The Conspicous Consumption.
Motor sports had a point way back in the day, but the internal combustion engine has been improved to the point where we wont be able to wring any more power or efficencies from it. It's hit top end. |

NASCAR is pretty dumb. Indy racing and track racing are way more interesting
As far as pollution goes, there is a bigger issue in public transportation and fuel efficient cars. Motorsports would be a spec compared to these and other vehicular/fuel-burning issues |
