In the same boat as you. Dropped out of college, didn't like my program. Kinda want to go to Uni, but I've never been able to study. I'm moving to BC next summer, gonna work for abit and figure out my life. I would love to open a store. I guess for now I'm just going to give what life throws at me.

When I was in high school I had a similar attitude but after several years of community college mixed with heavy quantities of high power psychedelic drugs the only thing I have managed to profit off of is selling boro art on the street corner.

I recommend trying to sell things, The internet is a VERY useful tool for selling. Use sites like ebay and craigslist for your advantage, be smart, figure ways around todays economic market. Maybe try selling shirts to make some extra cash.

Instead driving to the store for a pack of cigaretes, and possibly getting killed/paralysed in an accident. Why dont you smoke some marijuana, which is not addictive and has a much lower chance of killing you then ciggaretes.

Instead of taking that plane to France which may crash and you may die, you can smoke some marijuana. Its much less of a risk.

Instead of driving to the beach to go swimming and possibly drown/ have a car accident, why dont you smoke some marijuana. Its much less of a risk and its cheaper.

....Oh wait, Marijuana is illegal.

I went on this big venture to attempt to like disconnect from mainstream society, get into hippie-esque type living. Join a commune.

Then at the end of it I realized. It's not that I am leaving mainstream culture. Rather it's that I'm leaving them to die. If I wanna improve my life I have to focus on improving the whole. Sectioning myself off in a forest off the grid is not focusing on improving the whole. To improve the whole I have to stay with society, even though it may be diffucult.

Turn on, Tune in and Take over. Thats the news mantra

If we're to improve human kind we have to smooth out, correct and refine this chaotic knot that is called mainstream, straight-thinking, society.

By all means, run around crazy for a couple years. I think pretty much every guy has to do this. But take atleast one class through it to stay just MARGINALLY connected to the mainstream psyche. Because at the end of the day, it's not that we are constructing our own psyche, rather, it's that we are deconstructing the mainstream psyche. To do that, you must keep some tie with it.

I have a friend who works as a home health aide and she loves it.

Bottom line: Do what YOU feel is right for your life! If you want to be a massage therapist, pursue that! The way I look at it is this: if I'm going to commit myself to something and do it for the rest of my life, it has to be something I love first and foremost. Wages are my secondary concern. What good is a lot of money when you're making it by doing something you hate? I'd rather make meager wages doing something I love and enjoy.

Like you I did not do well in school and I graduated from an alternative placement center. School is just not my "thing". I was lucky and landed a good job starting at 22k a year and now i'm up to 36k a year, managing an office for a construction company. it's and 8-5 mon-fri job. I have been there for 7 years and have learned ALOT!

The only drawback would be losing my job. I don't have a degree that says i know what i know. Theres no way i could start out at another company making what I make.

Well, one thing to do while your still young is invest some money for your future. Dont try Real Estate house flipping and the stock market. Invest in Real Estate IRA plans through an investment company. This type of investment pays you monthly dividends and can be direct deposited in your account. Try companies like EQlibrium Investments.
