Of the two free speech is more important. If you get summoned to court and don't speak even to confirm your name you could be convicted of contempt of court. Therefor there is no real right to remain silent.

I agree, free speech is definately more important. But I also agree with
wa bluska wica, it seems our freedom has been limited.

Even here (HF) free speech is limited ... I've had two threads deleted.

If people don't complain when stuff like this happens it's YOUR freedom you're ALLOWING to be taken away. It's important IMO to ALWAYS stand up for freedom - for everyone - in all circumstances. Otherwise YOUR rights will be eroded, and before you know it YOU will be living in a completely fascist worse-than Nazi Germany state. Time to choose is running out quickly.

The liberty to speak or be silent are the same rights, imo. Just like the right to or from religion, sex, drugs, press, property, slurpies, life, death, etc. Forced speech is not free speech.

Also, there is no "free speech" on forums, for the numnuts claiming to be "censored" on the forums. This is a privatley owned websites and those who own it or represent those who own it have the right to keep or delete whatever they want. Its called the right to property and its just as important as every other right, for example, free speech. You even agreed that they could delete your posts or ban you from posting here, if you broke their rules, when you first signed up here. *Sigh*

Lemme elaborate some. What if you were in your home and you invited a guest over for dinner. Then all of a sudden the guest starts yelling obsenities about your mother, starts hitting on you daughter, and then starts denying the holocaust after finding out that you have Jewish ancestory. Should you have the right to figuratively kick his hiney outta your house...or do you have to protect the right of his free speech? Forums aren't any less of private property than your home is and if you can't respect the right to property and privacy of its owners then why should anyone respect yours?
