I bought this garden-bench at a garage sale a few weeks ago for $2. Half the slats were broken. I have just finished it today. The downside was I had to pay $7 for a packet of mild steel 3/16" X 1" nuts & bolts but there were 100 in the packet so I will no doubt have other uses for them. I finished the wood slats off with sump oil. It takes a few days to dry but is otherwise excellent stuff and costs nothing.

That's awesome. A great bench for less than $9.00.

We like to scavange or salvage for our garden art. We've got an old claw-footed bathtub for a fish pond and the top of a telephone pole as a honeysuckle trellis.
