Default conversion from hydro to oxy {Ellis maybe)

An opiate question even I don't have the answer to. How do you do a rough hydrocodone to oxycodone conversion? Say, theoretically, someone was taking about 100 mgs of hydro a day. That person was told by someone in the medical field that 20 mgs of oxy would be the equivelant. It doesn't seem like enough. Is oxy really that much stronger?

It would be nice to know.

That is definately not correct! Here are the conversions as I recall: . (equianalgesic doses)

morphine 30mg
hydromorphone 7.5mg
hydrocodone 30mg
oxycodone 20mg
levorphanol 4mg
codeine 200mg (this sounds really high, but I think it is right)

100mg of hydrocodone would equal about 60 to 70mg of oxycodone

(I am having surgery tomorrow, but I will look it up when I get back to work in about 2 weeks)

Thank you. I hope your surgery goes well.

So oxy is only 1 and a half times as strong as Hydro? I did think it was more like 1:4, but I am not sure. None of my books have proper conversion charts.

note for 'recreational users' those ammounts are for controlled pain treatment..all of these drugs have diferant side affects (like how they affect your blood pressure/breathing, ect) so don't just take that ammount of something else for the same affect if you have never done it before.

VERY GOOD POINT, XAO!

These are guidelines for switching chronic pain patients from one med to another. Opiate doses vary widely, as each individual responds very differently to them. Opiates are some of the least predictable drugs used in modern medicine.

My surgery went well, thanks for asking. Now for the recovery...

Maggie,

Check out this link, http://www.globalrph.com/narcotic.cgi

I am not sure if it is a legit source or not, so take it with a grain of salt. Looks pretty cool, though.

Photo,

I was bored and took a look at that conversion site, i too found the codeine to oxy conversion very strange. 30mgs of oxy is equivalent to 300mgs of codeine (oral). from my experience as a recreational user i would have guessed 30mgs of oxy would closer to the 170 to 220 range of codeine. i guess it depends on the user. Cool site for a referance though
