suggestion for troll control in often attacked forums

i had an idea i beieve is worth discussing (any mod whod like to add a poll feel free)
many groups like to target hipforums with troll attacks, wether its anti gay or anti hippy or pro gun or even nambla and others
i'd like to see in highly attacked forums like the hippy and gay forums especialy to see senior members given the option to give guests a 4 hour or so temp ban priveledge thats submitted to supermods to review and decide on a full ban..
this way all regular users of those forums can instantly end and deal with atacks until mods can get to them.

ofcourse this would need to have user responcibility built in.. as in would need to make sure its only used to combat actual trolls.
and not just to shut up someone you dont like or agree with.. so perhaps the supermods would have the option for a short ban for inapropriately using this option
ithink it should only be in those forums that are attacked often however
might also just change the report bad post to not exactly a ban, but a temporary suspention of posting priveledge until its reviewed by a mod?
cause i know sometimes that can take awhile to get to them..

Anyway, I like the idea.. Similar to the requirements of being a moderator, if it was only given to those who have never been banned and have demonstrated compassion and objectivity over a considerable amount of time... I think it could be done...

But how would restrictions exist to not have those people have quite the same powers as moderators?

well, i'm not envisioning a actual ban, but perhaps a like short suspension of priveledges in that partucular forum..
and if they ever use it for anything but combatting trolls , then have that right revoked?

but i do think the idea of granting troll control priveledges to more dedicated forumers in those particular forums is a good idea

even if it was like something granted just to certain people quietly..people who arent mods exactly but have in the past come to the deffence of the forums as a whole when we're under attack..

perhaps it is something that should be granted to just a handful of responcible users annonomously however so they're not burdoned wit the stigma of being a semi mod or whatever
like just a few or a dozen people who could put an end to attacks without anyone knowing who did it (unless it was used innapropriately)

it would best be just a couple hour ban or suspention though, just long enough for a mod review

typicaly every troll trolls from post 1
so perhaps the 1st 10 posts could be probationnary posts?

And they would submit a report to a moderator when one became available? Or maybe there wouldn't really be a need for a report.. There is something to be said for leaving an offending post for people to see just for a little while, even though I personally don't like the idea..

It may be a necessary restriction of "semi-mods" or "troll controllers" that they cannot edit or delete posts they deem hurtful or offensive..

Actually, I'm thinking moderators would be in the best position to pick such people too..

i'm thinking more like the thread becomes temporarily inacessible but is stored for the 1st mod availible to review as to wether its a troll or just an offensive ignorant post
but trolls arequite odvios usualy
ofcourse your right the one who flags it for revue cannot edit or modify it in any way, only submit it to the mods (and temporarily remove it)
i dont know what form the absolute best option would be thats why im inviting open discussion to see if there might be a workable fair solution
the idea i think however is a good one, if the actual application of the idea is well thought through and applied fairly
i know it still needs alittle refining perhaps

I think it sounds like an excellent idea ... A short, temporary ban by any senior memeber ... until a mod can review the post/thread and declare it trollworthy or not.

your more just a ban evading perv
its about the hate attacks by hate groups and other furoms
generaly they attack specificaly in hippies, gay, and on occassion young hippies
but hippies and gay forum are the most often attacked

So it was briefly mentioned about perhaps locking a thread down until a mod came online.. I'm glad nobody seriously thinks denying the innocent free speech is a good idea..
