Oh dear Silver Salamander, I do hope you're not serious.
I laughed anyway, well it was that or put my head through the desk.

Heron, I am none too sure you appreciate the UK's reality is somewhat different to your misty ideal.

Nah, Heron's a smart guy.
Well I suppose it's impossible to get a totally accurate image of somewhere you've never been. My idea of Mississippi is probably just as far removed from his reality of the state. So I'll let be.

A strong torch of Wicca was passed to the US hundreds of years ago, precisely because of the oppression here.....

Wow am I glad I'm drinking anything!
Umm I think you mean the Puritans or something; because wicca is
not an ancient religion. It was made up
in the 1950s by an
Englishman named Gerald Garder. Then it came to America sometime in the '70s I believe, aided by Raymond Buckland et al.
If you don't know that well then at the very least you don't deserve to be considered Wiccan (beyond a 'rabid fluffybunny' capacity).

Oh yes, England is so horribly opressive about religions. We aren't taught about all the major world religions in schools, you can't buy Eid or halloween cards in Clintons, people never just mind their own bloody business.
Oh by the way, I was being sarcastic.

You live - for the moment - in a true democracy. The rule of heredity Kings was cast out of your land by your (farsighted) forefathers.

Yes but look what it's come to, George W. Bush. Pretty crap trade really.
Actually I think Christianity has a stronger influence on American politics than England would ever allow (you ever hear of British schools banning the teaching of evolution?). We have a long history of religious troubles and diversity so it doesn't get a foothold.

Here, the people do not, though many believe they do so, because of a powerful, pervasive media.

Oh so you read 1984 too, the medal is in the post.
Regardless in the grand scheme of things we're not doing too badly. I think if it was so vastly diffrent we'd know about it.

Umm oh kay
I don't go in for the whole 'rabbling new-agey hokum' but hey whatever does it for yah.

And what about women? Are they just going to be left to their own devices, because really that suits me just fine.
