I cleaned out my pms

So I went from 840 or so
to 78
and I haven't touched my sent ones in a month or two, that was just my inbox that I was too lazy to clean up for a long damn time.

I r smart.

i'm way to lazy to clean mine out now...since i got the upgraded room, i dont' feel the need to clean them out until i close in on 10000. i'm only 1/10 of the way there

I always delete them, was up to like 150 once and if drove me nuts. I am somewhat paranoid of who atually is reading them or who exactly has the capability to do so. I am like that on my private email as well.

I wonder where the deleted pms go? I am sure with much diligence, someone could possibly find them anyways.

yeah, I was operating like that (smaller limit than you remember) but, eeeeh, having to clear out that many at once is ridiculous. I'm gonna try and go through 'em at least once a month and delete all the useless schmutz I never read/revisit.

#1. Deleted PMs are gone permanently off the server. They are not stored anywhere else, except backups which are replaced every 24 hrs.
#2. Absolutely no one "reads" Pms here unless there is a valid reason - see below.
#3. The only person who can access other ppls PMs on this site is me, and I have no interest in wasting time reading them. Mods cannot access the info AT ALL.
#4. The only time I access PMs is to look for spam that's been reported or if a user is reported to be engaging in possibly illegal activities.
#5. I have NEVER revealed the actual contents of a PM to anyone, and will only do so when a court order says so.
#6. So you have much more protection here than on any other similar site.
#7. #1-#6 does not preclude any gov't agency from accessing all your correspondence (on whatever site) from being monitored thru other means.
#8 So when you put something in a PM or delete a PM you really don't have to worry.
#9 Sometimes lots of PMs will suddenly disappear when a user gets banned and has their PMs deleted.
#10 None of this covers publically available info in your posts or profile, obviously. But what's private stays private unless there is good reason, as determined by me, and me alone.

So if you're hearing anything different, you are being lied to, and you should definitely question the motivation of those who would spread such lies.

Well my pm's from people that were banned were just empty. I had to delete them myself.

damn I thought this was about PMS... I have a problem with that.

I am obsessive about immediately empyting out my PM's or emails after I respond. Sometimes I even drive my own self nuts about that.

I never delete anything. Except for new guestbook notifications. I delete those. Any real message from any member of the forums though, I have kept.

I don't know what it is...I think part of it is I hate using up any space, but part of it is I'm just obsessed about having a "clean" mailbox. I'm like that about my house too, I can't have things lying about, they must be put away in their rightful spot or I get really irritable. Ahhh, the joys of OCD.
