Default I'm looking for a hippy/beach community, does it exist?

I'm looking for a beach town full of hippies, anywhere in the world...where is it? California is becoming too...expensive, trendy, overrun...any ideas?

Unfortunatly most coastal properties are becoming even more expensive than the capital cities. Orbost in Victoria has a number of hippies. It also has some of the best soil in Austraila. I ought to write up an FAQ for overseas visitors one day.

There are plenty of coastal communities up and down the east coast of Australia. Most of them are becoming more expensive, but everything is relative. I am sure the price of housing in these communities is ridiculously cheap when compared to California. Try looking at towns on the NSW Central Coast between Sydney and Newcastle, or for places south of Wollongong. Towns such as Berry are quite nice, but again a bit touristy. There are also plenty of places on the Queensland coast that are quite nice.

i'm an aussie and although the place is a little expensive, byron bay has got to be one of the best places in Australia. i've only ever been there once and it was the best place ever. the thing that surprised me the most is that in every town you'll find at least one maccas or kfc or something. this place has 2 subways. that it. how good is that?? plus it has some awesom cafes and just general shops as well with new age stuff n everythin. its great

California is not the only place where hippy beaches exist.
Australia has it too! There are numerous beaches in OZ which you might find good.

Like the Hyam's Beach in Jervis Bay, NSW isn't one of the most easily found beaches. Claiming to have the whitest sands around, Jervis Bay is more secluded than some of the beaches in Australia. Sunbathing is great here but the sun is so bright it's imperative you take sun screen along. :sunglasse

unfortunately if any of these communities are discovered they are swooped upon by the government/ real estate speculators/ people who eat human flesh.

There is one in Mexic. But dangerous. Because people came, and they feel good, and year passes, and when they awake and realise they should begin to moove, they realise suddenly that they stayed several years !!!
