wasn't Hoover really unsupportive of the people during the depression
...he believed that the people should be more self sufficient and try to pave their own way out of the depression...which apparently didn't work too well.
FDR certainly did a better job @ directing the people and getting the economy back on track.

Kinda sounds like an ideology that make sense, with a policy behind it that doesn't, just like we've got now. If only we could learn from history...
Obama may be the only candidate, if it's between him and Romney, yikes!

I voted for Andrew Jackson, the guy who caused the Trail of Tears to happen and thousands of Cherokee died on a wintertime forced march.

I supported Jackson when he ran for president in the 1828 election, because he held himself to be a man of the common people, but when I saw his cruelty to the Cherokee and his favoritism to special interests, I regretted my vote.
Since then, I have been much more careful to find out more about the candidates.

Obama is a nightmare!!! I liked Bush better, cause at least with Bush you could say he was doing a bad job, without Liberals and democrats biting your head off for it. Obama is the continuation of Bush...

Other - Obama. Every campaign promise failed to even make progress on. Definitely worse off that when he was elected. At least the other not so good ones at worst did nothing to help, Obama has hurt. More unemployment, more Poverty, lower incomes, higher prices on food, fuel and just about everything else.More people on welfare, etc....

The answer to a thwarted president with the right goals,
is not to give power to the devious men who thwarted him.
Democrats and Republicans have both voted for pork barrel projects in their districts, inflating the budget to the point that social programs were squeezed out. Republicans in particular have a strategy of voting "no" to any bills that Democrats have a part in, even if the bill is identical in almost every way to one of their own. Obama-care is evil they say, but Romney was proud and remains proud of his nearly identical healthcare plan for Massachusetts. What's the difference? A bill is good or evil depending on whether your party created it!
Obama can only do so much in the face of wrong-headed Republican values and in the face of corrupt politicians from both parties.
It is up to "we the people" to clean up Congress so our president can do his job.
