Zyprexa

I'm not planning on using Zyprexa recreationally, so I might be posting this in the wrong forum.

But anyway, I was just prescribed Zyprexa a few days ago, and was wondering anyone here is/has been on it and what your experiences have been. I'm not manic or schizophrenic, my doctor prescribed it to enhance the Prozac I've been taking and to relieve anxiety. So far, I've noticed that it makes me very groggy and I can sleep for 10 hours easy, and that it's been affecting my blood sugar. I've read that Zyprexa can lead to diabetes, so I'm a bit worried about the blood sugar side effect. I've been doing a lot of research about it, since it's such a new drug, and was wondering if anyone here has ever been on it.

I've been on Zyprexa. I am schizophrenic but came off Zyprexa when it caused me to pass out without the slightest warning and fall on my head. It hurt. It also enhances your appetite causing weight gain. As you're not schizophrenic you are probably on about 5mg. I was on 20 so probably these effects are much less noticable in you. It is an anti-psychotic and will affect your thoughts even if it is unnoticeable. You simply won't think things that you otherwise would have. All kinds of medication scare me although, perhaps bizarrely, I will happily smoke a joint or drop acid - go figure.

Olanzapine (as it is called in the UK) is actually quite good to use recreationally but don't do it - you don't want to get on the wrong side of your psychiatrist. It makes everything glow yellow like the sun and things swirl around like acid without the stomach-ache, then you fall into a dreamless sleep (which can as you said, last a long time) from which you awake very refreshed. That's when you take about 100 mg which is dangerous apparently. I couldn't have given a flying fuck at the time I did it though - I was nuts.

zyprexa sucks ass!

I was on it a little over a year ago because of what I was telling a psychiatrist led him to believe i should be on it. wrong. That shit sucks so bad. here's what i experienced:
my appetite grew pretty quickly. I also had experiences that could best be described as a downword spiral within my head. I was up all night and was pretty much hallucinating. my personnel anxieties got worse really fast, and i had to deal with them ina bad way. it was just a hell drug that didnt do shit, and i wouldnt recommend it on anyone, unless they are super duper f'd in the head maybe.

so thats my opinion, and warning

switch to benzo's. that helped my anxiety mass. but everybodies different.
