I honestly don't think you have to do anything but consume it. I could be mistaken, but I've always heard that all opiates, including heroin, are converted to morphine by the liver.

That is definitely true for heroin (diacetylmorphine). The two acetyl groups are eventually removed by the body, leaving morphine. The acetyl groups facilitate passage through the blood-brain barrier.

Extracting morphine from opium is a bitch, mainly due to the nature of the latex and the number of other alkaloids present.

Is the easiest way. Buy a Ph meter, you're not gonna squeak by with litmus paper. The resolution of alkaloids is entirely dependant on a small window of Potential Hydrogen Ion concentration atcertain times during the procedure.

Morph is the first alkaloid ever isolated (in the 1800s) and is an easy one to start with. All depends on the PH --great details can be found in the Somneriforum and Designer Drugs, both sites are excellent.
