I see people mentioned the Pixies. that is 25-30 years old but rocks.

Try Grinderman "No Pussy Blues" or "Mickey Mouse". A side project of Nick Cave's. Try andyhting Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Look for Grady "Hammer in My Hand". Awesome Canadian guitar player and his former band Big Sugar kicks.

It would be any band that isnt signed by a major label. Mainly columbia,emi,sony,virgin, geffen...ect, ect.
i would consider sub pop a borderline indie label, they are big but they arent corporations like the others.
