I believe he addressed the first medical marijuana "patient" politically correct. I have patient in " " because, as someone previously mentioned, that man was obviously more than 85 pounds and even if he was using it solely for medical purposes you know he was lying when he said he was not for full legalization. It is when Romney begins talking about synthetic THC that I began to feel agitated.
First off, to compare synthetic THC to the cannabis plant is absurd because there are many more active compounds released upon combustion than solely THC. I'll address this issue last. What I want to point, and admittedly there was no way that Romney could know this, is that synthetic THC and Delta9-THC (naturally occurring THC) are NOT THE SAME CHEMICAL. They are as close as you can possible get to one another, but not the same!
How do I know this? Because after high school I went off to uni - and being that I love pot - I got a job in a research laboratory testing D9-THC ataxia on rats
First thing my PI told me was that only REAL EXTRACTED THC FROM CANNABIS is used during the experiment. He said, and remember this man is Muslim and has never taken a drug in his, that synthetic THC and D9-THC are not similar enough to produce accurate results. If something was identical to one another and produced the same exact effects why would a PhD be so strict in using the legit compound? Sure, science has to be extremely critical but if it was the same compound there would be no problem.
Now synthetic THC versus the combustion of cannabis, which I'm sure most people know does not yield the same effects. Cannabis has so many other things in it - good and bad - that exacerbates the effects of THC (and may even do the opposite - no one knows) and also has effects of their own. This is what Mitt Romney should fucking know. This is what people should bring to that asshole's attention. You can't take one active ingredient out of a plant, albeit the strongest, and say it will produce the same effects.
This is why I am sad for America, because you have uneducated bigots like Romney running for presidency of the country.
