Remaining community in California ?

Hi dear friends who have free spirit !
First, sorry for my English, i'm French ^^
I'm new on this forum, so here's my first cuckoo
I finish my film studies now, and i have a hippie mindset, I'd love to meet real hippies, so I decided to put some money on side, and leave as soon as i could, in immersion in a real community in the USA, California if possible... I'll be the happiest
Why not, at the same time, make a movie of this experience.

The purpose of my message here is to ask you if you know a real hippie community there, if any are left ?

I just saw "Into the Wild" for the 5th time at least, and hippies as we can see them in the film, with their caravans, really make me dream ...

Thank you all, brothers

Peace

Those are "real hippie communities" mademoiselle, more so than slab city as it is more of a loose collective than an actual income-sharing and structured community. At least from my impression. No offense but I would not base your knowledge of communities on a single theatrical movie.

Yes, i'm agree with you, finally, i think Slab City in Into The Wild it's not the real Slab City ^^

Oh it's real hippies communities ? So that's very nice, because I thought "eco-village" was just communities in nature, but not with really hippies peoples...

There is some of these communities that you advise me ?

I'm just going to plug my dad's school in Maine. It's called Stone Soup Institute. It is an international school for agrarian arts. Check them out on the Web.

From my point of view, California has more non hippy communal situations, and blessedly few old school hippy commune places.
Sure, there is a place close to me that is the Hog Farm in an urban setting, as well as the real Hog Farm north of here in Laytonville (Camp Winnarainbow), and some grows have that commune feel during harvest and trimmer time, but for the whole "stuff you think you missed," stand up to power sort of thing, those kids are more punk and metal than hippie.
