Anonymous Top Members Get Arrested

A sub-group of anonymous called LulzSec took a big hit this morning.

Three top members of the infamous computer hacking group LulzSec have been arrested by law enforcement agencies in the UK and the United States. Two others are charged with conspiracy.

Agents arrested two men from Great Britain, two from Ireland, and an American in Chicago. Charges against them are based on a conspiracy case filed in New York federal court.

According to the report the arrests were made possible after turning the group’s senior leader, Hector Xavier Monsegur, known as "sabu". He was charged with several counts of conspiracy in August of 2011 and turned over to the FBI to take down the collective.

LulzSec was a STRONG asset for anonymous. I wonder how their counterparts will react.

News reports have quoted several FBI officials involved with the investigation as saying "this is devastating to the organization", and claiming these arrests are "chopping off the head of LulzSec."
Anonymous were quick to reply, using their twitter AnonyNewsNet handle to say "by no means is this 'cutting the head off' of #Anonymous or 'devastating to the organization'. Do we really have to explain why?".

Following the reports, Anonymous posted on its Twitter feed: "We are Legion. We do not have a leader nor will we ever. LulzSec was a group, but Anonymous is a movement. Groups come and go, ideas remain"

These 'computer activists' put up a tough front and obviously wield a powerful sword, but I've always had my doubts if any of these people individually could take the heat when the chips are down...we're talkin' feds here, this aint a game.

There's good reasons why things were done they way they were done in the past.

The Internet won't cause or fuel social change and it sure as hell can't be trusted.

But the geeks are just going to have to learn things the hard way.

They're not geeks. They take down government sites, giving it more exposure. holding the collective, of fed up people, together under one name. Which is why you see guy fawkes masks EVERYWHERE. In occupy, PIPA, ACTA, all the protests had their collective of Anons. I bet you in may during the g8 summit in maryland and the NATO hearings in chicago the streets will be filled with people and the infamous guy fawkes mask. (Part of the reason why the G8 Summit was moved was because mass amounts of protestors we're heading to chicago)
