Republicans block U.S. Health Aid for 9/11 Workers

Gotta cut wasteful spending.
Quote:
Republican senators blocked Democratic legislation on Thursday that sought to provide medical care to rescue workers and residents of New York City who became ill as a result of breathing in toxic fumes, dust and smoke from ground zero.
Senate Republicans raised concerns about how to pay for the $7.4 billion bill to provide medical care to those who became ill from fumes near ground zero.
The 9/11 health bill, a version of which was approved by the House of Representatives in September, is among a handful of initiatives that Senate Democrats had been hoping to approve this year before the close of the 111th Congress.

Solution: we should stop that effort to build the Islamic cultural center near ground zero. Just think of the embarrassment if that cultural center goes up before the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, before the new WTC buildings are finished, and before any health care money can be given to the 9/11 workers.

No hard feelings, gotta get that deficit down.
Oh yeah, btw, we're gonna be buying a billion tanks this year, and also renewing massive tax cuts for the wealthy.
Sorry bout your healthcare though. Just be patient some of the healthcare will eventually trickle down.

There are two groups of victims from that day. the ones that died on that day and the ones who developed health issuses from the fumes dust and smoke around ground zero. Now that our government is going to turn its back on those people the war is all that much more redundant. Apparently "stick together' only applies to the war machine and not to help our own.
