Successfully growing =)

I'm a first time mushroom grower and following the PF-tek I'm actually doing it! I usually fail horribly at first times but things are going good so far =D> I'm excited so I thought I'd share.

It's been like 5-8 days, I'll say a week for simplicity.

It's Psilocybe Cubensis B+ eek! So excited!

Should I dunk the cakes before birthing?

wait till the cakes are very very white, like you can't see any verm at all then dunk if you want and grow! =D

That's awesome. I have 6 jars in total, and right now they're just sitting behind my desk. It's usually like 68-75 down here. Not optimal, but it'll work.

How long until the cakes are fully colonized?

i'm not sure but its been taking me a long ass time.


i just moved them from my room into my attic, which is considerably hotter.

i did that a couple of days ago and growth has already noticeably quickened so i would most definitely recommend trying to get your temperature up to like 80 at least---especially if you dont feel like waiting forever.

right now i have 3 jars starting to colonize, 3 jars yet to show any sign, and 1 jar that has colonized much faster than the others (about half the jar thus far) but there is also a little bit of mold growing.

to all those experienced: is it safe to say that the mycelium will overtake the mold eventually or is that cake just fucked? i have separated that jar from the others for the time being, but i'd like to know what options i have at this point---i'd really like to salvage it some how. i've already thrown away 5 for molding, i dont feel like losing any more haha

shroomery.org has a lot of info but I don't think someone with your mental capability would be able to grow them.

God, this guy weed-head is an idiot. I have a suggestion for your weed-head. Go out and find some wild mushrooms. The first ones you find will be the best. Doesn't matter what they look like or anything, just eat the first ones you find.

You should find out why your jars keep getting moldy. Possibly not sealed or sterilization problems.

i took the proper precautions originally and inoculated the jars with the spore solution, but nothing happened for weeks. so i took the remaining solution and took no special precautions in regards to sterility while re-inoculating the jars.

i knew the mold issue would arise, i was just being lazy about it.

what should i do about the jar that has a large colonization of mycelium and a small amount of mold?
