dress altering question.

today i bought a dress from a thrift store thats sort of too big on me. and i was wondering if there is anyway i can take out the side zipper and take it in then put the zipper back on? would this work?

i don't see why it shouldn't. just take it out, take an even amount of fabric out of each side, like a half an inch for example, then put it back in.

i was thinking of now doing the side without the zipper and it might look fine, but if not i'll just do both. this dress was just so cute i couldn't pass it up =]
