Don't let them cut more forests in Grassy Narrows

Last week, the people of Grassy Narrows declared a moratorium to
stop all industrial activity in their traditional territory
without their consent. This week, the community needs your help
to increase the pressure on the province of Ontario to quickly
and equitably resolve the escalating controversy over the

In the past month, RAN supporters made more than 600 calls to
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty's office! Insiders close to the
situation say that your calls are working. Provincial officials
have begun exploratory consultations with some members of the
community, and we need to keep the pressure on.

Call David Ramsay, Minister of Natural Resources and Aboriginal
Affairs, and tell him to stop the plan to increase logging in
Grassy Narrows. Your call matters. You can support the people of
Grassy Narrows by helping stop provincial plans to increase
clear-cut logging. If you're from Ontario, say so!

And you're not alone. Major regional wood purchasers are
weighing in, too. Home improvement chain Lowe's, paper and wood
products company Boise Cascade, and America's largest lumber
yard owner, Pro-Build Holdings, all wrote to Ontario officials
in recent weeks requesting an equitable resolution to forestry
disputes in the region.
