the principle of "the matrix" - and some very odd things I've seen lately

I think the thread title explains it pretty well, and before I start I am just going to say that I am a perfectly sane human being... Work a day job, got a great long term memory, only "drug" I do is a few drinks of alcohol a week.
With that said, I've seen some things lately that have really boggled my mind and made me begin to think that something like "the matrix" may exist.
Example 1: a few weeks ago, I can't remember when, but I remember seeing a cat, quite distinctive, and then a few seconds later the cat seemingly re-appeared from an impossible place. Not a particularly impressive example, but it gets better....
Example 2: I recently holidayed in Dublin and my OH and I were in a restaurant eating lunch. I looked out of the window and as ever there were people passing by, occasionally certain people would catch my eye and I'd watch them walk up the street... Well there was this one guy, quite short, asian and wearing distinctive clothing and carrying something. I watched him walk up the street and then disappear out of view. I took a bite out of my pizza and then looked back out of the window and to my amazement the same person that I had seen no more than 10 seconds earlier walked up the street again. I am absolutely convinced it was the same person as he was too distinct to be mistaken for someone else, but there is absolutely no way of rationally explaining how he got from the top of the street back down to beside the restaurant again, certainly not in such a short timeframe, AND without being seen.
It has absolutely baffled my mind since and made me feel slightly uneasy.
There is also a 3rd example, not seen by me, but by my other half: I arrived home from work a few days ago a little bit later than usual, and my other half, who was staying at mine, was a bit surprised to see me. He explained to me that he thought I had gone somewhere with my mum as the clock on his computer was reading an hour ahead; He'd also seen someone who he claimed looked just like me (and was wearing the same clothing as I was that day) get in to a car that looked identical to my mums ( there are only one or two like it here). Its even weirder because the place where he saw the other "me" get into the car is almost exactly the place my mum would pick me up, and is where I get dropped off by my colleague after work. The time on the computer being wrong also strangely coincides with the fact that our phone system time went haywire that day at work, and despite our attempts to change it, the clock time displayed what it felt like - also approximately an hour out.
Now, I appreciate that the above examples are not conclusive, but they certainly take a damn good bit of explaining - explanations I don't have - and along with other anomalies I've spotted in my time, I am really beginning to entertain the existance of parallel realities / "the matrix" and suchlike.
Another thing that makes me curious is I get semi-regular bouts of deja vu, sometimes very vivid ones, a recent example being when I was walking to the supermarket and I had a sudden bout of deja vu, and I became convinced that I was "acting out" a carbon copy of a scenario at some point either in the past or future (I couldn't tell). Although it was a mundane scenario - simply walking to the shops - whenever I have a deja vu I always know when I am experiencing it. I have also experienced deja vu and been able to recall exactly which event and the rough time in which it happened in the past, and it almost feels like I am looking back on my memories through a window in time.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but I'm also convinced I have had very brief glimpses into the future before too. They don't come nearly as often as deja vu - and I'm not just talking about regular prediction logic, intuition or even empathy that humans experience - I'm actually talking about what I can only describe as very brief glimpses into actual future events. Most of them are almost unintelligible, but the odd one is "clear" enough for me to understand it, and one or two of these experiences have even turned out to end up happening exactly as I predicted.
With all of this said, my views on the "grand scheme of things" as my mum would say, have taken interesting turns in recent times.
have any of you experienced these things, or do you just think I'm stark raving bonkers - all comments welcome!

Interesting.
I get an overwhelming sense that I'm in the matrix when I go into stores like Wal-Mart.
I can't even begin to explain why and it may sound like I'm joking but I'm serious.
I also, for some reason, get that feeling occassionally when I'm outside too. I'll see a flower and upon reflecting upon the beauty of a flower I'll get this sense that I was never meant to be a part of the same world as this flower, that I was plugged into this world of natural beauty and I'm just an interloper.
I've never experienced anything like what you described, yet I know perfectly what you mean.

I've had this kind of thing described in skinnyjean's post.
It was almost time for my oldest granddaughter to get home on the bus and I was in her baby sisters' room changing a diaper.
I saw, who I thought was my oldest granddaughter, stick her head in the room where I was, smile at me, and then go into the bathroom.
A few minutes later I was back in the living room and I watched her come down the drive and into the house from the school bus.
It was pretty unnerving.

The Matrix movies are very very intelligent and among my favorite. I'd say you are not whacko. There's a bunch of stuff I know and am learning with metaphysics, spirituality, and things like that, but don't know well enough to type in an organized manner.
With Deja Vu, it turns out from my own little research that dreaming the future is something common for most people and don't remember these precognitive dreams. The precognitive dreams can either be a real play-out of the future or like in most cases in a typical fictionalized dream layout.... the Deja Vu feeling is when you are "living the dream" and your conscious mind cannot make sense of the residue from being in an earlier precognitive dream. Also, there are clairvoyants who can dream the future and remember them, and it can become overwhelming for them.
An interesting thing with the matrix is it's theme of what's real and not real. In the first movie, Scyther hated the "real" world and preferred the matrix... and Agent Smith (when he took out his earpiece) said he hated the matrix and preferred the "real" world. This may sound loopy and hard to word, but in general I believe there is no "real" reality... its how YOU view it that determines it and is always subject for change of view. Hard for me to accurately explain in short and again other stuff I'm not remembering for this context.
I get weird things like you do but in a different sense. One weird that happened with me a couple days ago is I was talking to someone I haven't seen in a week. In short, I had said NOTHING to anybody about how I don't have school Wednesday and she was like "You said you don't have school today right?" and continued in a way like we had a conversation that never happened. I found it strange and said nothing of it 'cause things had worked for the better with her already knowing that. It feels like I am becoming more in correlation with the uinverse or something.
You might be interested in books by Stuart Wilde. I am reading the book Sixth Sense and talks above ESP and being psychic. I'm halfway through it and absolutely love it.
Mainly through my own experiences, there is A LOT we do not know about the non-linear world we live in.

Very cool man, I have split from myself many times, not every time consciously aware. It happens whenever you have some sort of unique thought which creats a new reality and you and your thought go there and split from you. Deja vu sometimes is other realities doing the same thing or im not sure these are just my ideas . Nowtobeawareofourself in all infinite realities?

I've got my fair share of precognitive dreams, as psyykonaut77 nicely put.
Been having them for as long as I remember. Never considered myself crazy, or though of it as abnormal. It came to me as quite a shock when I realized that what was quite the usual for me, was absolutely insane and "psychic" to other people.
I still have a lot to see, to learn; I must admit. I am young.
The idea of the matrix and slits in time are a good explanation to a lot of things.
But I don't think I want to ponder on it such, as to letting it take control of my perception or chain me down through it's immense complexity.
Life is a playground. Go play!
I think some people, get so caught up in things; let it be their financial debts or their reality doubts - that they ultimately forget this.
We get what, 80... 90 years on this planet?
In our dimension, at least, they're linear. Meaning you're the oldest you've ever been and the youngest you'll ever be... Right Now.
And sure, there are going to be plenty of mind fucks along the way.
Maybe, some things simply shouldn't be questioned.
There is no spoon.
Don't take yourself so seriously!
