Hi everyone My name is bryon. I joined this group today and am ecited to see if we can get some good disscusions going. Has anyone written anything recently they think is superb? Or perhaps you read something that really touched you or maybe you thought it was horrible.

Hi - i'm new too. i wrote a 275 (single spaced) book in 45 days, by taking DMT doses almost every day. i spent 40 years as a hard-core, stone-cold, card-carrying atheist. i spent five (5) minutes in DMT breakthrough hyperspace and was instantly converted. My book is titled, "Converted by a Molecule, or How i Knocked My Metaphysical Socks Off." 1st draft is complete, but editing is difficult. i believe it is my best, most inspired work. i believe it is truly unreadable.

Wow, Spicey you'v sold me your story, please tell me I can read this draft? I'll give you a draft of a novel about a monastery I was trying to write in NaNoWriMo to compensate? For those of you who don't know what I'm on about, it's the National Novel Writing Month and it's great for stimulating your creative juices when all your writing skill is honed in on the menial! But it does require a lot of enthusiasm and commitment and as a result I never reached the expected result of 50,000 words in one month (November).

So what for a trade-off Spicey? My failed novel for your spontaneous epiphany? I know it doesn't sound fair but it's all I really have to offer. Although, whether it acts as an example for all my writing is debatable, I'd like to think that isn't the case! If anyone else wants to read it they're welcome to but I should warn you all, I got up to around 30,000 before falling into a rut!

As for having read something you loved, Sartre's small "autobiography" of his childhood, simply called Words is amazing. A bit dense in places (for me at least) but totally worth the while.
