Need A college near the beach.

I need a change. im changen everything and i've reached the time to change location. Wanna be near the ocean & walk to the beach. pass out and spend the night if i can.

Who knows of any schools near the ocean? wanna make a list so i can throw a dart at it.

but a few downsides:

- Alcohol Ban on Campus

- Christian, and they make you do religious related activities

- 40,000 a year

good points:

- Location

- Students go to bars in Malibu or clubs in Hollywood or parties at UCLA or USC.

- Probably the best caffeteria food at any school

and its also pretty selective, so you'll need good grades.

University of San Francisco. It's accross the street from Golden Gate Park, three blocks from Haight Ashbury, and a ten minute walk to the beach. Granted, the water isn't exactly warm, but if you don't mind cool water you should be okay--it's never crowded. http://www.usfca.edu

Ahhh so many good schools in various locations.

Depending on what you want to study, The College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor ME is a tiny little school right on the coast. Its beautiful but cold. I almost went to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg FL and they have their own little beach. University of Tampa is also a haven for surfer types as is Coastal Carolina. Personally, I would go west young man...yea UC Santa Cruz and there are plenty others but not as close to the beach.

I wholeheartedly second that, it's amazingly beautiful, you've got the beach and the forest right there, the vibe is laid back and kynd, it's just all around the ideal place to be. I'm gonna be trying to transfer there either in spring or next fall.

At the very least, go look at it, I drove into the town right below the school and fell madly in love imediatly.

UC Santa Cruz is the best i agree with that. it is absaloutley beautiful and from what i hear its a wonderful school. i know a couple people who go there and they have said nothing but good things. and its just such a beautiful area!

try uncw (university north carolina at wilmington)...its a great college, and its only 10 mins aways from the beach.

university of miami is a great school i hear and its a drive away from south beach

You might want to try my own school, San Diego State University. It's in San Diego, CA. and it's about 10-20 min. from the beaches. The most popular one here is Pacific Beach where lots of SDSU students hang out. Go to the website at www.sdsu.edu. for more info.

Check out New College in Sarasota, Florida. It's an ultra liberal hippie school, too.

while the University of Rhode Island isn't right on the beach, most students rent rich people's summer homes about 10 min from campus that overlook the ocean, walking distance to the beach. many kids say they decided on URI because of the surfing. I think they're crazy. Summer Fall and Spring time rock, but winter blows. If you're interested in Oceanography, that campus is on the beach and, from what i hear, is suposed to be really good. THis has nothing to do with the beach, but on my way cross country I stopped in Fayetteville, AK. It was the coolest place i have ever been to! Things were cheep, lots of cool people, nature was all around, big rolling hills with lots of trees. It looked like it was being built-up though which was sad. I only stayed there for one night, but that one night was a good time. If anyone lives there, I would like to know more about it because i'm thinking about going back.

UCSB (Santa Barabra ca.) It's RIGHT on the beach, and there's nothin' but beach for a cpl miles in either direction.


The college has it's own little town, Isla Vista, don't know what it's like now but it used to be a kickass place to hangout.

Rent's a bitch though.

U. C. Santa Cruz is right by the beach too (campus is like a little elvin kingdom)and if you got enough $$ to shelter yourself from the bullshit Santa Cruz is still a decent place to live.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is about 15 mins from the coast and San Luis is pretty mellow, got a respectable # of hippys living here. Lotsa coffee shops and a rad farmers market.

i was looking into Western Washington University myself. Right on the beach. wwu.edu. its just not that type of beach where you can surf and such. more of a rocky, serene beach. you supposedly can even see the orca's traveling up and down the coast. sounds awesome to me.
