I know all you activists will quake at the mention of these words, but I believe that this is the only credible barrier to prevent cannabis legalization and if it is disproved then soon "truth will out" and legalization will follow.
I saw an interesting argument the other day somewhere saying if cannabis causes schizophrenia, higher percentage of the population taking cannabis means higher percentage with schizophrenia. If this fact is disproved, surely the theory of the link between cannabis and schizophrenia will be empirically disproved.
This could be proved by one of two methods:
1. Figures for cannabis/THC consumption over a period of time, say for example 50 years and the proportion of people being diagnosed with schizophrenia.
2. By comparing cannabis/THC consumptions and schizophrenia levels in different countries.
The problem is I’m having difficulty finding these statistics (if they exist) and even if they did, surely diagnosis of schizophrenia would change over time. As would admitting partaking in illicit activities on a survey.
I’m in a mighty pickle.
