Daylight
Good morning daylight
Dost thou remember me?
Oh how I long to be with thee again
Among the flowered trees and sweet grass
Left here cold and boxed in
Oh daylight why hast thou left me?
34 days crawl by slow
Sweet daylight rescue me in thy loving arms
Closing my eyes, I remember well
Warmth on my face and the sweet smell of
Nag Champa mingles with the fresh breeze
Gently rocking on the porch swing
Or meditating on the grass in the yard
But once my eyes open and silence is gone
I see that I'm still in here while thou art not
And I look outside my high school's window
And see the hope of thy sweet face remains
So for now I close my eyes
The chatter becomes a babbling brook
Oh daylight! how thou dwells within us all
Without thee we may never be
