Has anyone read this book? Does anybody have an opinion on it?

Personally, I think this is a great book, and I think that Peter Singer has made recent advances in the theory of ethics accessible to the layperson, and generally the book is comprehensive, yet concise analysis of the history of self-interest in ethics, its contemporary "inveterate" state, and its future.

I will say one thing for Peter Singer.Although I am not in agreement with his opinions - I respect his right to hold such opinions- I do respect him for not pushing propaganda. The same cannot be said for PETA.They might have a noble cause but it does not justify pushing propaganda.

What is a 'layperson' [you bigot]

do you realise that there a NO DOCTORATES OF ETHICS OR MORALITY
that are worth shit.
ANY HUMAN BEING is qualified to speak of such matters.
And you know it.
Thus there are no laypersons.

Ethics and morality.. Are what rational beings discuss
[sometimes]
There are NO qualifications...[besides having a brain]
The theories you speak of are based on human society
Thus NO THEORY OF ETHICS IS BASED IN EXISTANT PHENOMENA
But only in the relativity of huamn interaction.
Entirely interprative

Occam has no doctorates in anything...
Yet he can speak of ethics with total confidence.
How?

The power of reason
That which we all start with but few use.

Please make it known that ALL can speculate in such arenas of thought;
That there are no elitist ethical expexts, or laypersons.

There are just humans asking questions.
