FIRST. We must choose which god. For which religions description is truth?
There are MANY.
ALL have the same credentials.
When you settle on the god you like [the one with power windows & free air]
Then you must choose good or evil by it's definition. [cash or credit]
Occam
And this idiocy is carried to such extremes.
That just down the road from where occam lives.
is a cemetary.
Sorry, 5 cemetaries.
All side by side.
Catholic
Orthodox
Anglican
Methodist
General
Can anyone explain the reason for such?
Except as stupid bigotry?
Are we so facile?
it seems to occam..that the sane ones are in 'General.'
All the others..'would not be seen dead there'

Since the religous fear honest inquiry, I shall endevour to offer an answer.
The basis of religion lies in two aspects of Man's humanity:
The instinctive Fear which is nessacraily rooted in the genetics of all successfull life forms
and
The existence of Curiosity, a product of self-awarness and reasoning.
The common approach of preservation (burial is an "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" approach to preservation of the dead) is basic denial.
The imagined explanation are simply a product of curiosty/frustration.
Someday we'll get it right.

Josie.
No..as a race.
Divided we stand wobbly, even suicidal.
United in reason we stand strong.
And individually we rot.
We seem to perish. So what.
If Humanity survives.
If our childrens children are happy.
Have we not done the right thing?

Relative unity is relative diversity...

people are mainly religious because thats the way they were brought up. hwen you grow up being told god is real, no one really wants to beleive that the basis for their live up till then was a waste.
and, occam, until you sto refering to yourself in third person, you cannot be buried in the 'sane' part of the cemetary. im sorry.

Occam is sorry if his personal pronoun usage confuses yourself :)
If as you imply..Occams useage of pronouns is NOT SANE.
then your defnition of 'not sane'
covers 99.8% of humanity...including yourself...
Occam considers his usage of 'occam' as a desription of who he is.
To be far more accurate than 'I'
What is 'i'
What part of you is 'i'
your brain. your body. your experience. your skills.
All of them?
If so.. when 'i' am sick..are your skills sick..or your body.?
'I' is the ego. A part of us...Not ALL of us.
Ego is not experience or body or skill.
If 'i' think something..does my spleen think it?
As 'i' includes spleen lungs legs brains emotions reason quirks hates fingers.?
[by your definition]
OCCAM.. is the totallity of the being that now speaks to you.
If you want to call yourself 'i'
So be it.
But to call occam insane because he does not.
Is insane.
If occam uses 'i' Then his ego speaks to you...
Ego is stupid and irrational...
Ego doesnt know how to talk on this forum without skill. experience and
reason.
So OCCAM is who speaks to you..A synthesis of all he is.
Maybe time spent on understanding such a position would be better spent than formulating bigotry?
And please do not be sorry. It is not required.

Off topic, but you know occam, your reasoning for the use of "occam" over "I" is very similar to the Rasta disdain for the term "I".
A Rasta refers to himself as "rastaman" for the same basic reasons. Of course, there the similarity ends. Rasta'a further refer to themselves as "I and I" , the second "I" being god who is always a part of them.
Interesting how two entirely different perspectives can approah the same destination.

Occam did not know this..Though have heard refferences to such.
Occam calling himself occam also comes from possibly a psychological
fixation.. A discust at the number of 'i's in human conversation and literature.
though excusable as a tool to center the listeners/readers imagination in a first person perspective..
'i' is still way overused..

ps
Occam could converse further on this topic. It is more important than
it first appears.
