i've heard of a growing technique called the 'candle
technique', or something like that. it involves
cutting or splitting the plant at crucial points and
times so it develops numerous crowns, increasing the
amount of bud up to seven times (so it is said)
ring a bell anyone? i'd like to know more

Infact the only method I have heard about using a candle is
the drip feed method where the candle feeds water to the plant
by capilary(sp) action.

its called "super-cropping" or "topping" as well......
you cut the main stem just above a specific internode and that internode will then produce 2 side branches that "replace" the main stem you removed. The technique keeps the plants short so that you can lower your light and get better light penatration. whats important is that you remove the lowest / thinest side branches and undergrowth as well. What you want to end up with is a bush that has 3-6 "main arms" and no other branches.
each "main arm" will receive more light (because they are spread horizontally and the horizontal light is closer to all budding sites) removing the small branches (useless undergrowth) also helps the plant concentrate its own growth in the "main arms" making them prime bud development sites. while a normal plant under 3ft may get you 3/4oz of prime bud and 3/4oz of small buds, a supercropped plant will get you 4-6 buds that are 5-10 grams a piece. removing the undergrowth also allows for better air circulation, less bug infestations, and a better view of drip emmiters.

Well I've heard of cropping, etc.
I did it myself on every crop, also I judiciously remove the large
fan leaves throughout which I find promotes growth, but overdoing
it can have detriment effects.
Candle technique, never knew it was called that though, wonder why.?
Hey Koopa nice to bump into you out of the A'dam section:)
