there is a bill before the Texas Senate that will prevent bi/gays from being foster parents and if they are already foster parents, the children will be taken away from them.
gotta remember, Bush is from Texas. the republician controled Texas senate and congress redrew congressional lines so that they could stack the deck by the new districts being predominately republican. funny thing, the first election after this, the Democrate incumbant won the election. Texas politics **shakes head **

That bill = unconstitutional. Either it won't be passed, or it'll be passed and then somebody will make an appeal to the supreme court and it will most likely be omitted.

you don't understand Texas politics, it is VERY VERY dirty. There is no level a candidate won't stoop to in order to win. I mean shit, we had a mother kill the mother of a girl that is going up against her daughter for cheerleader so that girl will be too distraught to compete. that is just Texas politics at work.
Last year the Republicans wanted to redraw congressional lines so that it would favor republicans. so he held a special session to vote o it. the democrats left the state (they went to New Mexico) so it couldn't be voted on. So the special session was a failure after two weeks of blockage by the Democrats. Another special session was called a month or so later and again the Democrats left the stae. This time the republican governor threatened to get the Texas Rangers, not the baseball team either :), to go to New Mexico and arrest them and bring them to Austin to force them to vote on it, Democrats are a miinority. The Rangers said they couldn't do it as it would be illegal. In the end they had to come back and the vote was taken and of course it was divided down party lines, but it did pass.

Pfft...this is so dumb. Seems to me that gay relationships last a little longer than straight ones, so why not put a child in that position? Instead of facing divorce...and all that other crap. I think gay/lesbian peopel *should* definently be able to adopt children...I mean...what makes them so *different* from straight people that they wouldn't make good parents? If peopel think that, that's just dumb. I think this bill won't go anywhere...least I hope it doesn't. Peace!

yeah, they (the state) are soooo concerned about the welfare of the child, they forgot about the affect pulling the kid from the only loving, caring home the kid has known and throwing him back into the cesspool that is child protective services. and there is little concern that older kids won't get adopted or find other loving caring foster homes.
