Its so weird! I've been out as bisexual for 2 years and my family thought I was just saying that. Now I'm out as full fledged lesbian and they're all like "Oh, its just a phase, let it pass". What do I have to do to get them to understand the fact that I LIKE GIRLS! They're always telling me I should get a nice boyfriend and I'm like, been there done that. I mean, I'm not ruling out the possibility but, for the past year, I've really only been sexually attracted to females so I don't know that thats going to really ever change. What makes it funny is they're not homophobic by any means so I don't see why they're having such a hard time accepting this.

denial is an instantaneous reaction for many parents as they deal with it in their own time. they will soon realise and have to come to terms with it as you bring your girlfriends home :)

yeah, my little sister is gay and her mom (my ex-stepmom) is CONVINCED it's only a phase...pssshhh, it's been "only a phase" since she was 12. pretty long phase, if you ask me. i think people don't think that a young person can know themselves well enough to know their own sexuality. no one has any faith in younger people anymore. no wonder there are so many disenfranchised youth...
