I'm so sorry for any upset to anyone who read the thread about Kaibab breaking his leg. Sometimes, like when you're stoned, somethings feel like you ought to share them. Such was the case with my little goat buckling.
Today, after the farrier left, I took him into the pen with the Girls, and then up the hill to relax and mellow out. He did real good, like jumping up onto and off the chair we have up there.
Last night, before I turned out the lights in the barn, he jumped up on "Feeder Heights" in the kid pen. (As we like to call the built-in wooden hay feeder that we covered with plywood to allow the kids a play area.) I sort of held my breath when he did this, thinking that maybe he'd hurt himself getting down. But he was fine. I stayed for a few minutes to make sure he could do this without injuring himself further, and he was bouncing on and off like his broken leg didn't even matter. So I wished everyone a Good Night, turned off the lights, and when I got into the house I collapsed on the couch and slept til 3 AM.
My stress level is chillin' out too. And I think I'm not blaming myself so much right now. I wish that I could think of everything that would eliminate the causes of injury to my critters, but sometimes I miss the important ones.
Today I'll give myself a break and try to rest and get back into my normally mellow routine... Slow Down, Sam... take a deep breathe, let it out slowly... Good.
You folks have a Good Day,
Love, Sam
I don't have any cliches today... not feeling all that smart.
